Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

Gemstones are a natural product of the earth.  Through a scientific process that incorporates high heat and pressure with water and geologic activity over millions of years, minerals crystalize into the stunning gemstones we know and love.  If that isn’t enough, in addition, those beautiful gems can also feature special phenomena of various kinds.

  • Asterism – Often seen in sapphires and rubies, asterism is a star-like pattern of light that is caused by inclusions that have aligned in a specific direction inside of the stone.
  • Adularescence – Viewed in certain gemstones, like moonstone, adularescence is a soft bluish-white light that appears to shift across the surface of the gem.
  • Color Change – Some gemstones, like alexandrite, change color when viewed under different lighting.
  • Pleochroism – When viewed from different angles, some gemstones display two or three different colors.
  • Play-of-Color – Opals have a rainbow-like display of color caused by their unique microscopic structure.
  • Labradorescence – When a gemstone displays a unique spectrum of blue, green, orange and yellow in an iridescent play of color it’s called labradorescence.
  • Chatoyancy – Seen in chrysoberyl, this cat’s eye effect occurs from parallel inclusions within the stone that create a band of light that appears to move across the surface.

This handsome ring is made from a striking combination of platinum and 18-karat yellow gold.  With both high-polish and florentine finishes, this ring is the ideal setting for the truly special gemstone nestled within.  Set in an east/west fashion, this olive-green chrysoberyl showcases the cat’s eye phenomena to perfection.  Featuring chatoyancy, the signature white band that shifts in the light, this gem is much like the eye of a cat.  Found predominantly in Brazil and Sri Lanka, this unusual gem has been prized for thousands of years.  Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it is also believed to heighten spiritual awareness, intuition and protection.

A piece of estate jewelry, this ring has been part of the Joden inventory for years.  Most of those years, it was worn by Joe.  The masculine lines combined with the color and phenomena of the chrysoberyl appealed to him on many levels.  As a featured Pick of the Week, we are offering a price drop on this ring today.  Previously priced at $17,500.00., it’s available now for just $14,500.00.  Take advantage of this deal on joden.com.

Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

There are so many reasons to LOVE this Retro two-piece.  Made from 14 karat yellow gold, this bracelet and matching earrings from the late 1940’s has such style!  High polish interlocking knots are made from six individual wires.  A perfect swirl of said wires create five identical links…  each one centered on an 8mm cabochon moonstone. These shimmery stones gleam from within the yellow gold circles.  Moonstone is celebrated for two particular phenomenons… chatoyancy (also known as the cat’s eye effect) and adularescence.  Together these two qualities give this natural gemstone the glowing moon-like appearance for which it was named.

Between each knot-like segment are a secondary pair of linked circles…  resembling double wedding rings.  This bracelet is an endless series of entwined loops that results in a look somehow managing to be intricately superb and sublimely simple at the same time.

Clasp the bracelet on with the matching earrings to embrace the total package.  This mini-suite is from our estate department – another reason to love it.  Estate jewelry often offers superior craftsmanship, unique style and real value.  Pre-owned is pre-loved!

Baubles, Bling, and Amazing Things

Forget sapphires, emeralds, and rubies… get a load of these showstoppers!  Four rings with an incredibly rare center stone.  With colors ranging from a warm honey tone to a vivid yellow green, these beauties are sure to dazzle.  Perhaps you’ve taken note of the white stripe across the center of each one?  This is known as chatoyancy, and occurs when the stone is introduced to a direct beam of light.  As you may have guessed, it’s more commonly known as the “cat’s eye effect”.  Other gems exhibit this amazing wonder, but none as distinct as Chrysoberyl.  It’s only found in a few places around the world, and is a favorite of gemstone lovers everywhere.  Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the Cat’s Eye Chrysoberyl.

Named after the one thing that it so clearly resembles, the Cat’s Eye Chrysoberyl is as lovely as it is extraordinary.  The simplicity of this 18 karat yellow gold three stone ring allows the round cabochon gemstone to truly shine.  When the ring is turned from side to side, the eye glides across the surface.  Two Old European Cut diamonds flank the Cat’s Eye, amping up the shine of this ravishing ring.  For additional details, check it out on our site.

If you prefer a ring that makes a bold statement, choose one of these unisex pieces.  The first ring is made from 18 karat yellow gold and features two rows of five round brilliant diamonds each – these ten stones have a combined weight of .25 carats.  This piece is available in our showroom for $5500.00.  The second ring, made from a striking combination of 14 karat yellow gold and platinum, highlights a 12.00 carat Cat’s Eye.  The eye of the stone runs left to right, perpendicular to the finger.  Whether worn on a woman’s index finger or a man’s pinky – this is a strong look that won’t be ignored.  For additional photos and pricing, follow the links to our site.

The phenomena of nature…  it’s awe-inspiring.  Shown here, in all its glory, Cat’s Eye Chrysoberyl is a stone that is as beautiful as it is rare…  like so many of the jewels and gems available exclusively at Joden.  Our store IS the cat’s meow!
