Too Suite – Volume Three

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Matching Things

One of my favorite parts of writing the blog is learning something new…  sometimes it’s like playing detective!  The first step is to check the piece from top to bottom for overall condition and quality.  While I’m doing that, occasionally I find a little clue – like a hallmark.  Today was one of those days; I found a crisp manufacturer’s mark, a block style HL.

It’s the maker’s mark for HL Manufacturing.  This family-owned business is located just outside of Detroit in Utica, Michigan.  Marketing itself as a contemporary small city, Utica offers all of the modern conveniences all the while maintaining their small-town charm.

It’s the perfect home for HL – where their vision has remained the same for over forty-seven years…

“At a time when it seems as if all manufacturing was moving overseas, we kept everything right here in Michigan.  We believe “Made in USA” still means something.”

They are SO right.  With less than twenty employees, HL Manufacturing has built a reputation for design and service.  They create modern jewelry of the highest standards right here in the United States.  ♥

This three-piece suite is just that.  Made from 14-karat gold, this trio consists of a bracelet, a pair of earrings and a pendant that can also be worn as a slide.  Collectively, these pieces feature thirteen fancy-cut garnets.  Each deep red stone is rectangular in shape with a rounded top and unique faceting patterns.  Channel-set, these gems offer approximately 15.00 carats of scintillating sparkle.

Further accenting the clean lines of this modern design are sixteen round brilliant diamonds.  Ten of them are bezel set in 14-karat white gold in the bracelet while the remaining six decorate the top of each earring and the pendant.

With a total weight of approximately .62 carat, these diamonds add a perfect final flourish to this threesome.  The pendant also stars another detail that adds versatility.  The bail is broad and tall allowing it to be worn on a simple chain, an omega collar, a silk cord or even a tiny strand of pearls.

This suite is simply too sweet, and it’s the latest addition to our estate department.  Available in our showroom for $3,250.00, it’s a luxurious way to celebrate a January birthday!

Pick of the Week – Volume 42

Joden Girl

Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

There are so many reasons to LOVE this Retro two-piece.  Made from 14 karat yellow gold, this bracelet and matching earrings from the late 1940’s has such style!  High polish interlocking knots are made from six individual wires.  A perfect swirl of said wires create five identical links…  each one centered on an 8mm cabochon moonstone. These shimmery stones gleam from within the yellow gold circles.  Moonstone is celebrated for two particular phenomenons… chatoyancy (also known as the cat’s eye effect) and adularescence.  Together these two qualities give this natural gemstone the glowing moon-like appearance for which it was named.

Between each knot-like segment are a secondary pair of linked circles…  resembling double wedding rings.  This bracelet is an endless series of entwined loops that results in a look somehow managing to be intricately superb and sublimely simple at the same time.

Clasp the bracelet on with the matching earrings to embrace the total package.  This mini-suite is from our estate department – another reason to love it.  Estate jewelry often offers superior craftsmanship, unique style and real value.  Pre-owned is pre-loved!

You may have noticed the “FFF” hallmark shown above.  This is the maker’s mark for “F & F Felger”.  This fine jewelry manufacturer from Newark, New Jersey was a supplier to giants like Cartier, Tiffany & Co. and J.E. Caldwell in the early 20th century.  Founded in 1911, F & F Felger was recognized and known as one of the most prestigious  American jewelry makers of all time.  Yet another perk…  these beauties were made in the USA.  ♥

Modeled here, you can truly appreciate the wear-ability and versatility of these signed jewels.  Previously featured on our website, this suite has been selected as a Pick of the Week.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 110

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Made in America.  Now more than ever, those words mean something.  Quality products manufactured right here, in cities and towns all across our great country.  This week, I am so excited to share a dynamic duo with you.  A pair of Art Deco stunners…  most likely made right here in the United States in the 1920’s.  Both pieces are classic examples of what is perhaps the most iconic period in jewelry history.  With typical trademark details including pierced filigree design, milgrain edges, and hand-engraved patterns – these rings are American beauties.

Both are platinum, and both of them feature exactly thirteen diamonds.  The all diamond one on the left has .75 carat of goods – it is perfect for a bit of right hand bling.  Trios of sculpted swirl-shaped openings decorate both the top, bottom and sides of this gem.  It’s priced to sell at just $2,250.00.  The second piece is a showstopper, no doubt.  With .85 carat of diamonds, it sparkles from every angle.  The center section of this ring has a marquise shape – it’s outlined in a series of rectangular fancy cut natural emeralds.  Not only is this ring American – we think it was made in New York City between 1925-1927!  Make it yours for $4400.00.

If you’re looking for an exemplary piece of American history that you can really enjoy…  look no further.
