This piece is a home run for me in more ways than one. A lovely little Art Nouveau gem – meticulously carved from high karat yellow gold. The intricate basket-weave pattern features soft swirls mixed with textured lines. Cobalt blue enameling provides a bright pop of color. Five natural pearls are nestled into the open spaces. Made around the turn of the 20th century, this pendant could easily become a signature piece in any wardrobe. The back features a removable glass lid – it covers a compartment that could be used for a photograph, a lock of hair, or both. I love this simple, yet terribly sentimental detail. It brings to mind the old saying…

“Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.”

Lately, I’ve really been feeling yellow gold. It’s classic. Timeless. Much like this little Victorian ring that I found in Joe’s Special Box yesterday morning. Even though this beauty was made over 150 years ago, the clean lines are still on trend with today’s style… and who can resist a killer Old Mine Cut diamond? Weighing just over .60 carats, this cushion-shaped diamond sparkles from every angle. It’s held in place by eight golden prongs and sits exquisitely between a pair of millegrained bars. The unique geometric pattern engraved into the wide band completes the look of this one-of-a-kind solitaire ring.

Look how tiny it is! I have fairly small fingers (ring finger size 4.5) – so you can see how little this 19th century diamond ring really is… just under a size 3. Perfectly petite in every way. Joe’s Special Box is a haven for all sorts of treasures – rings, pendants, bracelets, and even a few stick pins. You may be wondering “What’s so special about a stick pin? Who wears them?” Let me answer that question for you… men wear them! A stick pin is an ideal tie tack, in fact, that’s what they were originally created for!

At Joden, we have trays full of them, including this lovely Edwardian ornament. Platinum and gold showcase the Orange Zircon center to perfection. The addition of three small round diamonds convey a subtle touch of sparkle. Jazz up those boring old ties with some vintage pizzazz!
