Hot or Not – Volume 29

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Curious Things

Every art form solidifies the concept that beauty is subjective.  Depending upon individual preferences, emotions and experiences… what one finds ordinary, another will deem it extraordinary.  As cliché as it sounds, beauty IS in the eye of the beholder.  This edition of the blog was born from that very thing.

I am absolutely enchanted by these earrings – totally head-over-heels for them.  Everything about them appeals to me.  Exquisitely-shaped, these four-petaled flowers are made entirely of 18-karat yellow gold.  Artfully sculpted, the edges and tips of the petals feature a lovely beaded texture that whispers quality and elegance.

Glowing from within those beaded golden borders, is the most delicious cobalt blue enamel.  This vivid hue is absolutely electric and I can only describe it as crushed blueberries.  Nestled deep between the four petals is a cluster of round brilliant diamonds… six in each earring.  Adding brilliance, these sparklers complete the look.  Priced at $2,960.00 – there’s no doubt that I love them.

But as I said – beauty is subjective.  The very thing that makes my heart go pitter-patter may very well make you say “Absolutely not!”  And so… I have to ask.  Are these earrings hot?  Or not?

What’s New – Volume 106

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things

The very best part of the metal market going crazy is that jewelry is pouring through the door – from customers and dealers alike.  An ounce of pure gold tipped the scale today (January 27, 2026) at $5179.00.  It’s staggering and a little scary, to say the least.   Millions of people worldwide are making the most of these unprecedented times.  Economic uncertainty has caused some to invest in gold (it tends to hold its value) and others to sell jewelry and coins, cashing in while they can. The vast majority of everything we buy heads directly to the refinery. Occasionally, we get lucky.

Speaking of luck, one of our most recent finds is this extraordinary pendant watch from the late 1800’s.  It’s an incredible example of Victorian artistry.  Small in size (just over an inch in diameter), this petite beauty is made from 18-karat yellow gold.  The front features cobalt blue guilloche enamel, a process that entails the carving of the gold with a pattern before the deeply saturated, yet still translucent enamel is applied.  Once the powdered glass finish has been baked on, the beautifully precise carving shines through.

Charmingly romantic, a pair of lovebirds were also etched deep into the gold surface. Instead of enamel, these creatures have been set with twenty-one rose cut diamonds – a small detail that adds a hint of sparkle to this timepiece.  Encircling the outermost edge of the watch is a ring of natural seed pearls, a lovely design element that repeats itself on the back side.

The inner workings hum the softest tune as the wheels and cogs go round… still keeping perfect time after nearly 150 years.  The porcelain dial offers additional appeal.  The word “Swiss” appears just above 6:00 o’clock while the maker’s name, Longines, is shown beneath 12:00.  Each of the numbers were applied in black enamel, except the 12, which was done in red.  A circle of golden markers denotes smaller elements of time – a tiny gold dot for every minute of the hour.

Not to be outdone, the chain is every bit as captivating as the watch.  Delicate in both appearance and heft, this beauty consists of cable link chain and small cobalt blue-enameled bars.  Twenty blue bars alternate with small segments of chain, culminating in a dog clip that fastens over the bow of the watch.  I cannot imagine a more enchanting way to keep track of the time, nor can I conceive of sending this antique marvel to a refinery.  This stellar salvage is available for just $4,200.00.  Stay tuned to see what other treasures we rescue from the melting pot!

Lockets to Love

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Inspired Things

It’s hard to believe that the holiday season is less than two months away.  There are only forty-three “Joden” shopping days left before Christmas.  Whew.  If that timeline gives you the whim-whams, not to worry!  Our website is available 24/7.  With an amazing selection of gift-worthy jewels, our site has the perfect present for that special someone.  We even offer free 2-Day shipping with every website purchase; you simply can’t go wrong.

One of our most requested gifts is a locket – and we have something truly special.  Sentimental and sweet, this heirloom-quality pendant is perfect.  Inspired by Victorian designs, this modern beauty is made from 14-karat yellow gold.  The front half of the locket features an oval-shaped center medallion.  Cobalt blue enamel coats the oval and highlights a tiny gold fleur de lis in the middle.  Intricate filigree wirework fills the space between the bright blue center and the scalloped outer edge.

Upon opening the hinge, another charming element is revealed.  Hand-painted on the back side of the oval center is just one word… France.  The small enameled placard was created in France and some time later, it was incorporated into this lovely locket.  On the right side is a sizable compartment; lacking the frame that would hold a photo, this pocket must be for a keepsake.  Perhaps a lock of hair, a baby tooth or a small note could be stored here.

Closing with a snap, this pendant is the perfect place to secure precious mementos.  Create an heirloom of the future for someone you love with this locket for just $1,050.00.  Call or stop by to make it yours today.
