Joe’s Special Box – Volume 24

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Lately, I’ve really been feeling yellow gold.  It’s classic.  Timeless.  Much like this little Victorian ring that I found in Joe’s Special Box yesterday morning.  Even though this beauty was made over 150 years ago, the clean lines are still on trend with today’s style…  and who can resist a killer Old Mine Cut diamond?  Weighing just over .60 carats, this cushion-shaped diamond sparkles from every angle.  It’s held in place by eight golden prongs and sits exquisitely between a pair of millegrained bars.  The unique geometric pattern engraved into the wide band completes the look of this one-of-a-kind solitaire ring.

Look how tiny it is!  I have fairly small fingers (ring finger size 4.5) – so you can see how little this 19th century diamond ring really is…  just under a size 3.  Perfectly petite in every way.  Luckily, our expert craftsman can size it to fit nearly anyone’s hand.  Priced ring at just $1800 – this antique ring is available now.  Make sure you mention that it can be found in Joe’s Special Box.

Conversion Crazed

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and a Bow Fling

Recently, I introduced you to the idea of converting your unworn jewelry into something fabulous…  something you’ll find yourself reaching for time after time.  One of my favorite examples of up-cycling jewels and gems is this bow pin necklace –

Once it was a little brooch, laying in a box…  not being worn.  Just look at it now!  Who wouldn’t want to own this?  At Joden, we have an entire collection of conversion jewelry – and it’s been flying out the door.

So…  when I stumbled across this little beauty, you can imagine my thoughts!  First – just look at details –

It’s a daisy petal pattern!  And we all know how I feel about daisies.  Love love love!  Just look at those diamond encrusted petals.  Each element is incredible – and it’s entirely constructed from platinum.  Set into that stunning filigree are 98 diamonds with a combined weight of 1.75 carats.  Beaded millegrain lines and soft scalloped edges complete the look.  Those Edwardians sure knew how to do things right.

As soon as I saw this piece, I asked Joe about it.  He and I had the same idea – it has to be a necklace.  Made in a bow-tie style shape, it will be adorable nestled into the hollow at the base of the throat.  And so…  this brooch is hanging out in our state of the art shop, accompanied by a little platinum chain.  Our expert craftsman will breathe new life into it…  stay tuned for the grand unveiling!

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 23

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

If you’ve ever visited our showroom at 144 South Broad Street, perhaps you know the secret held inside this small yet elaborately detailed box.  Ornately decorated with filigree-like pattern of swirls, this dainty piece has been delighting everyone who sees it for more than two hundred years.  What could the secret be?  Is it a jewelry box?  Perhaps a snuff box?  Let’s use the ring and pull open the bottom drawer…

Nestled inside, is this tiny key…  it’s handle is crafted to resemble a little bird.  Hmm..  a clue!  Any guesses?  We have a bird in a box – and that’s almost exactly what this piece is known as, except for one missing word.  It’s a Singing Bird Box.

You just want to listen to it over and over!  It’s charming!  Wind him up using the key, then slide the button on the front to the right.  A miniature automaton bird pops up, he dances left and right flapping his wings and tail…  all the while he sings a beautiful song.  And then, when he’s done – he pops back inside and the lid closes.  It’s truly magical!  Come visit him today.
