I couldn’t be more excited to share this week’s piece with you… it’s antique, authentic, mint-condition and gem-fine. It’s everything you want an estate piece to be. It’s also still relevant to the design and style standards of today. Whether you’re a lover of antique jewelry or classic modern style – this late Victorian ring is the perfect choice.

Made from 18-karat yellow gold, this sweet little ring has completely stolen my heart. It sits perfectly on my finger with low-profile appeal. The top of the ring only rises about a millimeter off the hand and is completely smooth, with no prongs. Surrounded by a milgrain-edged bezel, one cushion-shaped ruby fills the center of the ring. Bright and lively – this ruby weighs approximately .90 carat. It’s not pink nor purple. There are no burgundy overtones – the color is true red… candy apple red, scarlet, even crimson. It doesn’t darken on the hand, the color is truly remarkable from every angle.

Also set in tiny milgrain-edged bezels are eight old cut diamonds. These near-colorless sparklers have a combined weight of approximately .50 carat. Perfectly spaced around the border of the ruby, each little diamond winks from within its golden frame. A dainty split shank completes the look. As promised, we’re back with yet another of our favorite pieces. Navette-shaped, this elegant ring measures an inch from tip to tip – this style has been beloved for more than 150 years. Victorians embraced the elongated profile, decorating them with everything from diamonds and colored stones to pearls and turquoise. This sleek stunner has been on our site for a minute; and to be honest, we’re shocked that it hasn’t sold.

The perfect compliment to any hand, this antique beauty is made from rosy 14-karat yellow gold. A cushiony-oval natural ruby fills the center of the ring; it’s held in place by four prongs. Exhibiting a rich raspberry hue, this precious gem weighs approximately 1.40 carats.

Ruby is the July birthstone and has long been utilized to celebrate 40 years of marriage. Widely accepted as the most desirable of all gemstones, rubies are prized for their glorious red color. Known as the gemstone of courage, legend has it that those who wear rubies will live a life devoid of fear. Enhancing this ruby are twenty-six Old Mine Cut diamonds. Sparkling and shimmering in the light, these diamonds have a combined weight of approximately 1.50 carats! A single stone marks both the Northern and Southern tips of the ring while the remaining two dozen stones fill the 1890’s setting to perfection.

These photos show the ring on both the middle finger of my left hand as well as the ring finger of my right hand illustrating that this ring is as versatile as it is beautiful. The recent winter storm blew in the cutest little bit of holiday help! Her credentials are top-notch. In fact, she’s an expert in marketing with a real eye for style; we snapped her up before she could scurry away. A bit nocturnal; she prefers to work at night. If you’re clever and keep an eye out, you may catch a glimpse of her on our Instagram and Facebook pages. We are completely smitten, and you will be too. Meet Ruby!

Dana and I have taken a day or two to show her the ropes – she caught on quick and has become quite a handy assistant. As you may have guessed, Ruby’s favorite gemstone is ruby… she’s particularly captivated by this charming Georgian ring. It’s her favorite piece!

Featuring three old cut pieces of ruby red glass surrounded by natural seed pearls, this nearly two-hundred year old 9-karat gold beauty is on our website for just $800.00. It’s in excellent condition and looks particularly fetching with Ruby’s red Christmas sweater.

A tiny shiver ran from the top of Ruby’s little pink ears to the tip of her long tail the moment she saw this next ring… she immediately ran to hide. Seeking solace in the shadows of a birch tree, Ruby hid from this snake. As you know, snakes are a natural predator of mice – she didn’t want to be an afternoon snack!
