His and Hers – Volume Six

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and Complementary Rings

Crafted over four decades apart, this unique duo of rings offer a harmonious blend of cool white gold and stark black onyx.  These rings have been a popular go-to choice for nearly 100 years.  The classic color combination of black and white is a style that appeals to a wide audience of jewelry lovers everywhere.

Many of these simplistic beauties were made near the end of the Art Deco era in the 1930’s.  This ladies ring is one such example.  With an artfully sculpted hourglass shape, the 10-karat white gold ring has an elegant allure.  The onyx center stone presents with a softly arched profile that takes up almost the entire top of the piece.  A narrow framework holds it in place with prongs located at 12, 3, 6 and 9:00 o’clock.

One tiny single-cut diamond is nestled within a diamond-shaped setting on top of the onyx stone.  Graceful lines pair with polished sophistication in this 1930’s gem, priced at just $275.00.

It’s handsome counterpart was crafted in the 1970’s.  Designed for a larger hand, this ring is made from 18-karat white gold.  Polished to a pristine shine, the wide shank meets the center section at a perpendicular angle.  The middle of this ring is set with a curved black onyx.  It is the same shape as the onyx in the ladies ring, although this one is set in an east/west orientation.

Flanking the onyx are two lines of diamonds.  Each one is set with four single-cut diamonds – these stones have a combined weight of .25 carat.  Adding a hint of sparkle to this otherwise stark ring, the diamonds are a much needed bright spot in this ring – it’s available now for $950.00.

These two ring aren’t wedding bands – and they don’t match.  However, they sing together in perfect harmony.  If you and your sweetheart are looking for an outward symbol of your connection, this pair of rings is ideal!  They’re available on our website – click on over and check them out.

What’s New – Volume 32

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and The Latest Things

I probably shouldn’t admit this… but it makes a good point (and sometimes I need a clever anecdote or something that helps words flow from my fingertips).  So, here it is.  I don’t like pearls.  At all.  I can appreciate them and am able to recognize fine quality from mediocre.  But they hold little appeal for me.  I only own a single strand and they were given to me.  So, I am completely perplexed by my infatuation with this bracelet.  A couple months ago, it just appeared on my desk.  I had no clue where it came from – in fact, I still don’t.

Jewelry is hypnotic – beguiling and bewitching from every angle.  There is not one single day that passes without me trying on a piece of jewelry of some kind or another.  Rings are easy, slide them on your finger and admire the sparkle.  Clip an earring on your ear to gauge the style and perhaps the comfort level.  Layer a couple of chains to create a neck mess.  Trying on jewelry is part of the gig – it’s simply irresistible.  So, the day I discovered this multi-colored bracelet on my desk, naturally I clasped it around my wrist.  Nothing unusual with that except that I didn’t take it off.

It’s very comfortable and looks amazing on.  The myriad of colors are complementary for every skin tone.  Made from 14-karat yellow gold, the links alternate between a pair of creamy pearls and then an offset piece of chalcedony. Presenting in shades of orange, blue, black and green – it’s a delight for the eyes.  An although it contains twenty-seven pearls, there is not one thing that I don’t love about it.

I kept telling Dana how much I liked it.  She suggested I share it in a blog.  I resisted at first as it’s a very uncharacteristic choice for me.  But the longer I kept it on my desk, the more I was attracted to it.  I couldn’t put it away.  Ultimately, I decided to take Dana’s advice.  Priced at just $1,350.00, this bracelet is available now.  I hope you love it as much as I do.

Vogue Victorian

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Vintage Things

It’s the single-most popular jewelry item.  In fact, 87% of us wear them.  It’s our go-to choice when choosing a bit of bling to treat ourselves… AND it’s our favorite kind of jewelry to give as a gift.  Surprisingly, the answer isn’t rings – it’s actually earrings.  They’re our favorite place to showcase colored gems…  most often round in shape.  While stud styles still reign supreme, more than a third of us are crazy for a good drop earring.

These little darlings from the Victorian era charmed me from the very beginning.  Made from 10-karat yellow gold, they offer vintage appeal from the flower-shaped top the to artfully sculpted bottom.  Measuring just over an inch in total, they’re the ideal size to go from the supermarket to the office to date-night dinner.  The cap, a sweet five-petaled flower seems like an unusual choice for the exquisitely elegant base.  And although both components are true antiques, I have to wonder if they were originally paired together or if they’re a marriage.

Intricate details shape the lower segment.  Straight lines meet curved edges.  Double-leafed stems and curlicues are accented by milgrain beading.  Over 140 years of patina have gathered into each crevice and line, although rather than presenting in deep, dark tones instead it shines with an iridescent crimson hue.   Original threaded posts and backs ensure the safety of the earrings even during wear.

A singular ice blue round stone is set in each earring.  Although these stones are synthetic, the color is lovely and amps up the appeal of the earrings.  Priced at $495, these little beauties have just been added to our site.  Feel free to stop in and admire them in person.  Hitting every mark of our most-favored article of jewelry, they’re sure to go quick!
