Glorious Green

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Colorful Things

Joden Jewelers will celebrate 54 years of business next month.  For most of those years, we have been a purveyor of antique, estate and modern jewelry.  When I started working at the store in 1995, there was just one case of vintage jewelry.  The case itself had a decidedly 1970’s vibe, with plastic woodgrain panels on the pedestal base and a five-foot octagonal glass top.  There were two tiny doors (maybe 12-inches total) that accessed the display space.  I had to kneel on the floor and reach my arm (all the way up to my shoulder) inside that door in a vain attempt to create an alluring arrangement of goods – a challenge indeed!

Today, the antique and estate jewelry encompasses more than half of the store, with just six cases dedicated to the modern era.  And yet, there is not a doubt in my mind that several estate jewels can be found mixed among those modern gems.  Vintage jewelry is not just woven into the fiber of Joden Jewelers…  it is, in fact, the lifeblood of the company.  Nearly every blog that I write pays homage to a pre-owned piece; I rarely choose something new.

Today is one of those days…  I simply could not resist this ring.  I am completely captivated by that glorious green center stone.  Showcasing a diamond-pattern checker cut top, this rectangular tourmaline is true beauty.  The light dances across the stone, flashing hues of kelly, juniper, forest and even emerald green.  The depth of color has me picking my jaw up off the floor!  Weighing exactly 9.78 carats, this tourmaline is simply stunning.

Made from 18-karat white gold, the ring itself perfectly complements the center stone.  Made in a subtle halo-style, this ring boasts a pair of tapered baguette diamonds as well as eighty-eight round brilliant diamonds.  Combined, these diamonds offer .86 carat of scintillating sparkle.  My favorite detail of the mounting is hidden, it’s a little secret for the lucky gal who wears the ring…

I absolutely love that pair of inverse heart cut-outs – so sweet!  Tourmaline is available in every color of the rainbow.  Additionally, each hue can also be found in various degrees of saturation and tone.  There is an ideal shade of tourmaline for everyone.  If this one is perfect for you, check it out on our site where it’s available for just $2,850.00.

Signature Series – Volume 12

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Quality Things

In 1999, Tiffany & Co. introduced an exclusive diamond cut.  Patented, trademarked and registered, this unique shape was a captivating combination of facet cuts that created the most extraordinary sparkle.  The outline was square with slightly nipped corners; it was christened the Lucida.  This clever name was inspired by the brightest star in a constellation – the lucidae.  Truly revolutionary, this latest Tiffany innovation was an instant success.

It’s no secret that when it comes to designer jewelry, estate is the way to go.  Often, you can snag a pre-owned gem at a fraction of the original price.  We recently acquired this classic band from Tiffany & Co.  Constructed entirely of platinum, this size 5.25 ring measures 4mm in width.  Spaced across the center of the band are three Lucida-cut diamonds.  With a combined weight of .15 carat, these petite sparklers truly shine.  Each one is nestled deep into the surface of the band, leaving a completely smooth finish.

It glides over the knuckle like silk.  The band settles at the base of the finger with a satisfying feeling of weighty comfort.  There’s no question that this ring is a true quality piece.  It’s the kind of thing that you can and will wear every single day.

Tiffany sold this band for $3,760.00.  As the latest addition to our estate department, it’s available at Joden for just $1,475.00 – a steal!  Check it out on our site today.

The Shape of Love

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Heart-shaped Things

My jewelry career began twenty-nine years ago in 1995.  I can honestly say that for at least twenty-seven of those years, I have loathed heart-shaped jewelry.  I had a completely dismissive, negative blanket-type attitude about it.  In my mind, it was all bad.

Over the past two years, my outlook has thawed.  We’ve had a handful of really great estate pieces that gave me a nudge in the right direction – like this Victorian necklace and these Jose Hess earrings.  (Both of these are available.  Call or message for additional details.)

I may be late to the party, but there’s no question that I’m all in when it comes to the perfect piece of heart jewelry. There are still plenty of tacky hearts out there, so be sure to choose the right one.  You can’t go wrong with our latest find, a 14-karat yellow gold link chain with a double-heart feature.

Totally reversible and oh-so-sweet, this 16-inch necklace offers subtle shine with a lovely satin-finish.  The elongated cable-link chain comes together with a pavé diamond heart;  a slightly smaller diamond heart dangles from the first.  There are eighteen diamonds in total with a combined weight of approximately .40 carat.  On the reverse side, a cluster of tiny cut-outs appear… a crescent moon, a star, a heart and five little dots.  Both looks are absolutely charming!

Even the chain offers effortless modern style.  It’s solid, with a nice heavy feel.  A sturdy lobster-claw clasp completes the piece.  Perfect for Valentine’s Day, this double-heart necklace is available now for $1,700.00.  Don’t wait twenty-seven years like I did, add two new heart looks with just one piece to your wardrobe today.
