This or That – Volume Eight

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Filigree Things

I know, I know…  more filigree rings.  How many of these delicate darlings can there possibly be?  Over the years we have shared more than a few, it’s true.  BUT – these two are brand new to our antique & estate department and both offer unique, charming details.  I couldn’t resist the opportunity bring you something lovely AND affordable.

First, let’s chat about this one…

Made entirely of 18-karat white gold, this beauty is simply lovely.  The ring itself was constructed in the 1920’s.  The overall shape is interesting – with subtle concave areas, a sculptural structure develops.  The filigree pattern offers a underlying botanical vibe that plays nicely with the softly rounded form.  Set within an octagonal plate, the center diamond is unexpected – it’s a modern cut diamond.  Weighing approximately .45 carat, this bright gem brings all the shine.  This ring could be a marriage of an antique ring and a round brilliant diamond, it could be a remount – the possibilities are endless.  New to our shop and our site, this ring is priced right at $975.00.

Moving on to this petite princess..

Another 18-karat white gold dazzler, this little cutie is just so good.  The decoration wraps a whimsy of whorls and swirls around the slender silhouette.  Milgrain beaded edges highlight every line.  Culminating into a four-sided top, one Old Mine Cut diamond gleams from between a pair of man-made sapphires.  This diamond weighs approximately .15 carat.  It’s the crowning glory for this 1925 dream.  Also new to our site, this ring is priced at just $475.00.

Shown together on the hand, this delicate darling pairs beautifully with that dainty dreamboat.  I’m excited to offer both of them… and can’t wait to hear which you would choose.  This modern-meets-vintage vision or that sapphire-trimmed treasure?  Perhaps with pricing like this, there’s no need to choose.  Take them both!

Baubles, Bling and Detailed Things

It’s the little details that turn a house into a home.  From welcoming flowers on the front porch to the blanket draped lovingly across the back of the sofa – these are the things that make you want to settle in and stay for a while.  Growing up, my parents’ house was always (and still is) fitted with all the elements of home – soft throw pillows, family pictures, and the scent of a  Yankee tart wafting through the kitchen.  Now, my house has its own charms – baskets of blankets perfect for cuddling, a well-loved and oh-so cozy chair in the family room, and a container of homemade sweet treats on the kitchen counter.  These seemingly insignificant particulars are, in fact, the very things that matter.

Antique jewelry is often the same.  It’s the fine points that take a piece from ordinary to extraordinary.  Edwardian and Art Deco finery is notable for stunning lace-like filigree jewelry, like this ring.  Made from a foundation of 18-karat white gold and topped with a layer of platinum, this three-stone ring is dripping with details.  A trio of European cut diamonds mark the center section of the ring.  Though each one is round, they are seated within both square and pear-shaped borders.  Milgrain beads add texture to those borders.  Cascading down the shoulders are two additional diamonds – these tiny sparklers are single-cuts.  Single-cut diamonds have just seventeen facets and were often utilized in pieces from the early to mid 1900’s.

The outside edges of the ring have four more single-cut diamonds.  All nine diamonds contained within the ring have a total weight of approximately .50 carat. Gossamer wire threads connect each segment in a fine filigree web.  The woven pattern curls and whirls around the softly-domed top.  Finishing the sides and decorating each shoulder is chevron-shaped leaf engraving.  From the milgrain-beading to the filigree lace, these elements culminate into one enchanting ring.  If a single detail were gone – the ring would not be the same.

The elements create a mood, an ambiance…  a warm fuzzy feeling.  It’s like the emotion evoked by curling up in my favorite chair with my Snoopy throw blanket.  This ring doesn’t shout, but rather speaks in a quiet eloquent voice.  Made between the end of the Edwardian era and the beginning of Art Deco, it’s a crossover piece.  Priced at just $1,150.00, this ring is the newest arrival to our website.  Check it out then stop by the store to see it out for yourself!

Baubles, Bling, and Diamond Rings

In 2019, more and more couples are choosing a vintage engagement ring.  For those seeking quality craftsmanship, great value and distinctive design – a one-of-a-kind ring from our estate department is the perfect choice.  Our vast inventory offers everything from Georgian to modern, but there’s no question that the pieces from the Art Deco period bring the most oohs and aahs from our customers!

The 1920’s and 1930’s produced a plethora of jewelry designs influenced by bold geometric patterns with a decidedly more modern feel than previous years.  The Art Deco era represented luxury and glamour, executed with exquisite expertise.  At Joden, our Deco case is filled to overflowing with platinum and white gold diamond rings ideal for engagements!  Here are three of our current favs…

Each of these beauties features an Old European Cut center accented by single-cut diamond trim.  Other elements like delicate filigree wire-work and  milgrain beaded edges bring the styles to life.

First, we have an 18 karat white gold dream featuring a .60 carat bezel-set diamond center.  A vining leaf pattern creates the structure of each side while a singular diamond accents brings a hint of sparkle.  It glistens on the hand for just $1,650.00.

Next is a vision in platinum.  This simple but elegant ring contains a .45 carat diamond center.  Straight edges and delicate beading add a bit of flair to this classically beautiful piece.  It’s priced right at $1,750.00.

Last but certainly not least is this platinum pyramid-style ring.  Four rows of diamonds build upward in a square fashion, crowned by a dazzling .65 carat Old European Cut diamond.  The twenty-four single cut diamonds that decorate each level of the pyramid add an additional .35 carat…  that brings this stunner to 1.00 carat of total diamond weight!  All for just $2,250.00.

I love sharing rings like these!  Sophisticated style and Old World technique combined with an affordable price that won’t break the bank.  Each of these and so much more is available every day in the estate department at Joden.
