Joe’s Special Box – Volume 37

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Right this moment, as I’m writing, the countdown to Christmas is looming in the back of my mind.  I can almost hear it ticking by… 41 days, 40 days, 39, 38, 37, 36.  There’s a bite in the air, and scattered snowflakes have been on the windshield of my car more than once.  As the holiday approaches, more and more shoppers are stopping into Joden.  Some are looking for inspiration, hoping for the perfect gift.  Some have an idea but haven’t nailed down the details.  And others know exactly what they want – an engagement ring.  On the Top Ten List of days to get engaged, Christmas Eve is number one, and Christmas Day is number two.  During this celebratory time, while loved ones are gathered together, ’tis the season for proposals.

Sure to elicit screams of “Yes!”, this charming engagement ring is just one of many available exclusively at Joden.  Made from 18 karat white gold during the 1950’s, this ring features a bright white Modern Transitional European Cut diamond as the center stone.  The diamond weighs approximately .40 carat.  This fine diamond is flanked by six sparkling single cut diamonds, each one set in a tiny bezel.  These stones have a combined weight of .10 carats bringing the total diamond weight of this Mid Century Modern beauty to .50 carat.  It’s modestly priced at $2450 and can be found in Joe’s Special Box.

No matter who you’re shopping for, Joden is the place to be.  Our collection of fine antique, estate, and modern jewelry is vast and varied, promising something for everyone.  For nearly 50 years, our motto has stood the test of time…

“You can go to a museum and look, or come to us and touch.”

A Drool-worthy MCM

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and a 1950’s Ring

This is one MCM that I could really go for…  and I’m not talking about Man Crush Monday, but rather Mid Century Modern.  In the years following the end of WWII, a significant design movement began to emerge…  in all areas – furniture, art, fashion, automobiles, and jewelry.  With the war over, previously restricted materials became available again like platinum and silver.  As new styles and trends began to develop, old ones were rejected and this was no exception.  Rose gold reigned supreme in the the 1940’s period known as Retro.  Mid Century Modern was an eclectic combination of yellow and white metals…  gold, silver, and platinum.

This beauty is tailored and traditional times three.  A warm European Cut diamond is artfully set in four-cornered fashion.  Weighing approximately .50 carat, this sparkler is modestly embellished by a pair of period-cut diamonds that have a combined weight of .10 carats.  The strong geometric shape of the top of this ring is further enhanced by a ribbed shank.  Crisply crafted from 14 karat white gold, this hand finished ring was made during the early 1950’s.  Priced at $2200, this low profile, elegantly outlined diamond trio ring makes an ideal gift for any lady on your holiday shopping list.

This ring and many others are waiting for you at Joden.  Even now, after nearly 50 years in business, our motto continues to hold true…

You can go to a museum and look, or you can come to us and touch.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 36

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

I always find the best things when I have a chance to snoop around in Joe’s office!  Ssshhh….  don’t tell!  The response to the opal band from a couple weeks ago was awesome (I am patiently waiting for the restoration process to be complete).  So, I knew when I stumbled across these little darlings that I had to share them with you.

Made at the end of the 19th century, these little enchantresses feature 68 cabochon opals in both round and pear shapes.  The play of color in these tiny gems is dazzling.  Flashes of red, green, and blue blaze within each stone creating an effect like fireworks on the 4th of July.  The seat for each opal has been hand-cut, leaving a burst of engraving around each one.  The bottom is hinged, giving the earring movement – this allows light to bounce off the opals further enhancing the sparkle.  These are the details that take a piece from ordinary to extraordinary.  Make them yours today for just $1180.00.

“You can go to a museum and look or come to Joden and touch.”
