What’s New – Volume 60

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things

Customers are ALWAYS remarking that they couldn’t possibly work at Joden Jewelers.  They would spend their entire paycheck on jewelry!  Then they look at us and wonder aloud how we are able to do it.  Surely being surrounded by these sparkling gems must be too much temptation to resist.  The answer isn’t quite that simple…

  • We work for a living (and haven’t won the lottery), so spending our ENTIRE check on jewelry wouldn’t be wise.
  • Over time, a sense of “jewelry-blindness” takes over.  Anything ordinary simply doesn’t get noticed.
  • What if I buy this now and something I love even more comes in tomorrow??

Writing blogs and partnering with Dana on all things internet-related (our website, Facebook and Instagram) adds another element to the mix.  We can’t just choose pieces we like, but instead must look at everything through your eyes as well.  Dana and I watch for trends, pieces that are rare and signed goods.  We look for jewelry that’s not only aesthetically appealing but also offers great value.

Lately, I’ve been drawn to yellow gold.  I even told Dana that I cannot write about another platinum diamond ring – but those posts are the ones that get the most response.  We strive to keep our content fresh; and because we specialize in antique jewelry, we do see more Edwardian, Art Deco and Mid-Century modern rings than most jewelry stores.  It’s up to us to pick through and save the very best ones for Joden – even if it doesn’t jive with our latest obsessions!

Reminding me of my own engagement ring, this dainty darling caught my eye.  Made near 1940, it’s a little bit Art Deco and a little bit Mid-Century Modern.  Platinum from top to bottom, it centers on a round diamond weighing approximately .53 carat that is set within fishtail style prongs.  Flanking this diamond are a pair of step-cut trapezoids that total .45 carat and then two straight baguettes that offer an additional .18 carat of sparkle.  If you’re keeping track, that’s 1.16 carats overall.  Mint condition and utterly charming, this beauty is priced at just $2,450.00.  If you love a great vintage piece, hop over to joden.com for additional photos and details.

And so, even though I said I couldn’t possibly write about another platinum diamond ring…  clearly, I was mistaken.  Super sweet and priced to sell, this little ring was too good to pass by.  Every single day Dana and I talk about you guys…  our readers, followers, customers and friends.  We love what we do.  We hope that it shows and that you love it too.  ♥
