What’s New – Volume 41

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things

Thoughts of Retro jewelry often conjure visions of rose gold accented with diamonds and rubies.  The 1940’s accessories of choice were bold statement pieces… large swirling stylized bow brooches and rings that reached from knuckle to knuckle.  In addition to the candy red ruby trim, pops of color were provided by center stones choices like aquamarine and citrine.

Dubbed the Retro era, it encompassed the end of the 1930’s through the 1940’s and coincided with WWII.  Due to the war, precious metals were rare and even restricted in some cases.  Higher percentages of alloys like copper were added to the available gold to make the small quantities stretch farther.  With larger amounts of copper, the gold presented with a lovely pink hue.

This week’s find is a petite gem from the 1940’s, however, it doesn’t present any of the telltale signs.  Made from a combination of 14-karat white and yellow gold, it feels more like Edwardian revival than Retro.

Shaped like a sideways “Z”, the top portion of the ring is a delightful zigzag filled with diamonds.  There are fifteen round diamonds that have a combined weight of .30 carat.  These small stones glitter in the light, bringing a bit of sparkle to the hand.  Priced at just $525.00, this sweet little ring is the latest edition to our estate department and is available on our website!

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and The Latest Things

“Diamonds.  Diamonds.  I don’t mean rhinestones, but diamonds are a girls best friend.”

Marilyn Monroe crooned these words in 1953.  And while they are undeniably true, the sentiment surely had to have begun much earlier.  No one could have laid eyes on the featured piece in our “What’s New” category this week without being smitten.  Personally, I have declared it to be my new BFF!

This buxom beauty was crafted near 1915 in the Edwardian era.  With a harlequin type pattern, the setting of this ring has all the earmarks of the time…  delicate milgrain beaded edges, hand-pierced cut-outs and old cut diamond trim.  The platinum metal has been polished to a pristine shine.  Together, all of these details combine to create the ideal setting for that dreamy center stone.

An Old European Cut dazzler, this diamond weighs approximately 1.48 carats.  It presents with bright white color, hitting the chart at “I”.  The clarity grade is VS2 – quite clean.  It’s a true beauty.  The ring itself measures 3/4 of an inch from top to bottom.  The physical size is impressive and yet completely wearable.  Perfect on any digit you choose, personally I would wear it on my index or middle finger.  A true antique, this authentic ring is available now for just $10,750.00.  Stop by the store and check it out for yourself.

This week’s selection from Joe’s Special Box is a real beauty.  A super sweet little gem from the 1920’s, this late Edwardian/early Art Deco ring sparkles from every angle.  Hand-crafted from platinum, this piece features an Old European Cut diamond center that weighs approximately .65 carat.  It’s bezel-set within a diamond encrusted mounting…  twenty-eight additional stones are nestled into each milgrain-accented section of the ring.  These diamonds have a combined weight of .50 carat.  Hand engraved decorative patterns add another layer of dimension to this eye-popping enchantress.  Priced to sell at just $2,925 – it’s a steal of a deal!

Even from a distance, we are striving to bring you the best that Joden has to offer.  We are looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming each of you with open arms.
