What’s New – Volume 100

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things

*Edited to add that this ring sold the day before this blog posted.  It was that good.  ♥

For months, I have been touting the natural beauty of yellow gold and the comeback of it.  I have even mentioned once or twice that I simply cannot look at another white gold diamond ring.  BUT – there are exceptions to every rule, technicalities and loop holes.  A couple of weeks ago, I had a chance encounter with one of the daintiest and delightfully delicate antique beauties I have seen in a very long time.  I am completely smitten by every little detail.

Perfectly petite, this ring is made entirely of platinum.  This is one of those technicalities I was talking about… although it’s a white metal, it isn’t white gold.  I have always loved platinum; my own wedding rings are platinum.  It’s a strong, dense metal that resists wear and tear incredibly well.  It’s a naturally occurring white metal that does not require rhodium plating.  It can easily be polished to a pristine shine.  This platinum ring features a long, slender marquise diamond in the center that weighs approximately .35 carat.  Nestled edge to edge against the center stone are a pair of half-moon cut diamonds that have a combined weight of .35 carat.  Expertly crafted, you can scarcely tell where one stone ends and the next begins.  The three stones blend together in a dazzling display of brilliance.

The softly scalloped silhouette of the shoulder is formed by a pair of marquise diamonds, set in an east/west fashion.  They’re bezel set, with a milgrain-accented border going the entire way around each one.  Just below each small marquise are a pair of single-cut round diamonds.  Then, there are ten additional single-cut diamonds that form chevron-shaped points around the northern and southern tips of the center stone.  In total, these fourteen side stones add an additional .30 carat of sparkle.  The average color grade of all the diamonds contained in this ring is F, and the average clarity grade of VS2.

On the hand, the ring is absolutely lovely.  Made in the 1920’s, this Art Deco ring has lived through one lifetime and it has lifetimes yet to go.  It was priced at just $1,625.00.  In a time when overconsumption is literally eating the world alive – I cannot stress enough the value of antique and estate jewelry.  Although this ring has sold, we have many more to choose from.  Choose pre-owned.  Choose pre-loved.  Choose Joden.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 119

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

The timeless beauty of yellow gold is back in a big way.  With warm rich tones, this buttery metal is everything that you’ve been dreaming of.  Combine it with crisp white gold trim – the partnership sings in harmony.  The striking duo of 14 karat white and yellow gold has been popular for more than one hundred years.  The Edwardian Era was noted for some of the most remarkable two tone jewelry of the last century.

This antique beauty from Joe’s Special Box is one of the prettiest engagement rings that I have seen in quite some time.  It packs a powerful punch for a ring with less than a half carat center stone.  This .40 carat Old European Cut diamond sparkles within the hexagon-shaped top.  The unique triple-banded milgrain border amps up the volume in this not-so-simple solitaire.

Sitting tall on the finger, this bit of bling features a filigree accented head and an intricately engraved band.  The etched pattern spans the entire top half of the ring; the bottom half gleams with a plain, high-polish shine.  The half-round style offers the ability to fit this gem to nearly any finger without altering the beauty of the engraving.  Tapering gracefully from the center stone, the ring is absolutely stunning on the hand.

With so many charming details – you must be wondering about the price of this ring.  You’ll be pleasantly surprised to know that it can be yours for just $950!  All that beauty for under $1000 and available exclusively at Joden.
