Joe’s Special Box Luxury Edition – Volume 16

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and A Collector’s Things

In 1967, as the famous story goes, a Masai (or hunter) tribesman quite literally stumbled upon a cluster of deep violet-blue crystals coming out of the ground in Merelani.  This man reported his discovery to a local treasure hunter, Manuel d’Souza.  Recognizing the potential in these mysterious crystals, d’Souza quickly established four claims.  He was hopeful that these claims were a new source for fine sapphires – however, it was an entirely new gemstone.

Ninety additional claims popped up within the same area.  No one knew what this brilliant blue gem was, but everyone was certain it would be very profitable.  An iconic and well-known name in the jewelry industry jumped on the momentous opportunity and brokered a deal to become the main distributor…  it was none other than Tiffany & Co.  As such, they were granted the honor of naming the stone.  Dubbed for the area in which it was found, tanzanite was born.

This extraordinary gemstone boasts shades of brilliant blue, vivid violet, and plush purple…  and is only found in one place on Earth.  Since it’s discovery just fifty-seven years ago, tanzanite has rivaled the big three (ruby, emerald, and sapphire) in terms of popularity.  Over the years, Joden Jewelers has featured more than a few fine examples of this vibrant gem, but perhaps none more lovely than this collar.

Crafted entirely of 18-karat yellow gold, this bit of neck candy is sensational.  A bold cushion-cut tanzanite is nestled within the horseshoe-shaped center.  Looking very much like a fine sapphire, this electric blue gem weighs an impressive 7.50 carats.  The remainder of the collar is comprised of forty-two individual links.  Alternating between a larger bar and a smaller bead-shaped link, the piece gradually becomes smaller and smaller the closer it gets to the clasp.

Thirteen of the links (including the center) are pavé-set with fully faceted round brilliant diamonds.  There are exactly two hundred and seventy-seven diamonds that have a combined weight of 8.00 carats!  This is no ordinary necklace, but rather an extraordinary example of luxury. Priced at $13,750.00 – perhaps you’re thinking you have nowhere to wear this beauty.  Quite the contrary, I say!  If you’re lucky enough to own it, you can wear it any darn place you want.

Joe’s Special Box Luxury Edition – Volume 12A

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and A Collector’s Things

Luxury…  it’s defined as the state of great comfort and extravagant living.  However – “extravagant living” is different for each of us.  There are moments when the greatest luxury I can fathom is spending the entire day nestled into the corner of the sofa reading…  ignore the phone, let the laundry pile up, and declare “cereal for dinner!”  That would be a truly decadent day.

As you can imagine, working in a jewelry store elevates luxury to an entirely different level.  We have customers from every walk of life; we are blessed with an inventory that has real range.  It allows us to offer something for everyone.  Whether your budget is $50 or $50,000 – we have the perfect gift for you.

Dana and I take great pride in the pieces that we share with you.  We strive to showcase the range of the inventory…  antique, estate and modern.  Each item in this blog, every single thing on our website, Facebook, and Instagram is hand-picked.    This bangle is no exception – it was also specially selected….  but not by me, by Joe.

Made in the 1950’s, this 14-karat gold beauty is deceptively simple.  Five narrow golden wires create the frame of the bracelet.  Interspersed within those wires are six tiny leaves with a diamond in the middle of each one.  Twenty-eight additional round diamonds create a halo around the center stone – a stunning cornflower blue cushion-shaped sapphire weighing 6.62 carats.

Accompanied by a report from the Gemological Institute of America, this bright blue beauty is from Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon).  For more than two thousand years, Sri Lanka has been bringing us the finest sapphires in the world.  Known for phenomenal color, these gemstones are breathtakingly beautiful.  The GIA report offers yet another important bit of information – our gemstone is unheated.  Only .5-1% of the sapphires mined are of gem quality without treatment.  Natural untreated, unheated sapphires are far more rare and much more valuable than treated sapphires.

The bangle is hinged, allowing it to open fully.  Both the hinge and the clasp offer deeply engraved patterns.  This minute detail adds to the overall charm of this Mid Century bangle.  Combined, the thirty-four diamonds have a total weight of 1.50 carats of scintillating sparkle.  The classically clean lines pair perfectly with the diamonds to create the ideal setting for this stellar sapphire.  Beautiful, rare, and valuable – these attributes are the very reasons why this bracelet is exactly the kind of luxury you need in your life.  Make it yours for just $18,900.00.

You can go to a museum and look or come to us and touch.  Ownership possibilities available.
