What’s New – Volume 23

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and The Latest Things

Dana and I love sharing our new and recent finds with you.  There’s nothing more gratifying than checking our social media and website to see that something we love is equally adored by our readers and followers.  We are constantly bouncing fresh finds off of each other, each time asking the same question… “What about this?”

Our styles are similar with a few minor nuances.  Dana is a lover of mourning jewelry, navette-shaped filigree rings, charming conversions and all things pearl.  I am a fan of Art Nouveau and enamels, anything with a floral theme, beautiful color and of course, our conversion creations.  Together, we bring you the very best that Joden has to offer.

This week’s selection is a bit more in my wheelhouse than hers.  Created by the legendary designer Van Craeynest, the setting portion of this ring is positively resplendent with intricate botanical details.  18 karat yellow gold and platinum combine to create this delicious ring.  A singular five-petaled blossom sits at the top of each shoulder with a trail of leaves that gradually decrease in size.  Carefully ensconced on the outer edges are a pair of coiled leaves.  Both of these details have been carved from platinum, making them stand out from the rich golden color of the ring.

A bright bubblegum pink sapphire shines from the center of this lavishly detailed ring.  This cushion shaped fine quality gem weighs 3.31 carats and was set here in our on-premises shop.  From the master jewelers at Van Craeynest to the expert hands of our own Steve Becker, this mounting became a complete showstopper of a ring. Beautiful on any finger, I can’t help but think this piece would make an amazing non-traditional engagement ring.  New to our site, this beauty is moderately priced at $10,250.00.  From start to finish, every piece we offer is a team effort.  Discover each and every one for yourself by visiting our site and checking us out on Facebook and Instagram!

Hot or Not – Volume Three

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Speculative Things

Established in London in 1960, The House of Graff was inspired by a devotion to beauty, detail and superior craftsmanship.  Over the past sixty years, this powerhouse firm has become known for the finest quality gemstones and unique design.

True to the brand that Graff has created, this bold brooch is an exceptional example from our estate department.  Weighing over 25 dwt, this piece has real weight – a true testament to the artistry and worth that combined to conceive such an unusual gem.  Measuring approximately 1.5 x 1.75 inches, it fills the palm of my hand; a size that manages to make a statement without being ostentatious.  It’s very wearable.

A sturdy frame made from 18 karat white gold is the backbone of this striking clip-style brooch.  A hinged double pin stem mechanism holds the piece firmly in place – a singular stem would simply not do.  The sides and back of the outer frame have been enhanced with a deep texture, an additional dimension that serves to soften the appearance of the wide expanse of gold.  The deep blue color in this piece is derived from the large cushion shaped Lapis Lazuli that fills the frame from edge to edge.  Presenting with a rich cobalt color and speckled with tiny flecks of gold, this bewitching stone looks very much like a starry night sky.

To complete the look, two freeform swirls are affixed atop the lapis.  These gently curving lines are pavé-set with ninety round brilliant diamonds.  The glittering gems offer a combined weight of 7.50 carats of bling.  Clasped onto your jacket lapel or pinned to your favorite chunky sweater, there’s no doubt that this designer brooch will cause quite a stir.

Personally, I think this is a real “Wow” piece.  I’m both captivated and perplexed…  maybe you can clear things up.  With eye-catching details including a diamond encrusted piece of lapis and priced at $7,500…  is this a home run or a dud?  What do you think – is it hot?  Or not?  Check out our Instagram story and cast your vote now.

What’s New – Volume 22

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and The Latest Things

We’re rounding out the month of March with this absolutely fabulous birthstone bracelet.  Seven inches of dazzling bling, each link in this modern beauty is set with fine quality gemstones.  Alternating from an east/west set oval aquamarine and open-centered circles of diamonds, this bracelet is a true show-stopper.

The framework is made from a combination of platinum and 18-karat yellow gold.  The hue of each metal is the perfect complement to the gem that it holds – white for the aquas and yellow for the diamonds.

In regard to aquamarine, color is key.  Fine shades like a deep blue with a hint of green are hard to come by.  These moderately intense colors are most often found in stones weighing over five carats each.  Here, we have eight perfectly matched gems of the finest quality that weigh just 1.50 carat each.  That’s quite unusual.  Small aquamarines are generally pale and washed out.

Set between these tranquil cerulean gemstones are ninety-six round brilliant diamonds.  These diamonds have a combined weight of 8.50 carats.  With an average color grade of G-H and an average clarity grade of VS, these sparklers are the ideal accent for the colored gems.  Fine aquamarine is rare – this beauty is new to our site.  It’s priced at $12,750.00 and worth every penny.
