Pick of the Week – Volume 62

Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

Asymmetry is defined as a lack of equality or equivalence between parts or aspects of something – having two sides or halves that are not the same.  In terms of style, asymmetry creates a complex relationship between elements – often it offers a more interesting design that attracts attention.

In recent years, asymmetrical earrings have been on trend.  This unique concept can be more simply described as mismatched.  Asymmetry isn’t a new idea, it’s more of a revival.  In fact, the Mid Century Modern era frequently showcased pieces with contrasting or disproportional charm.  Our 62nd Pick of the Week is a perfect example.

Shown from each side, this platinum ring offered two opposing styles… one sleek and modern and one diamond-studded.  Just three round diamonds decorate one shoulder while the other side has a whopping eighteen.  Together, there is a .50 carat of diamond weight.  Although not uniform, the two halves highlight the center stone to perfection.  A gem fine 10.00 carat emerald-cut amethyst pops with purple panache.

The unique styling of this ring makes it an ideal fit for a pinky finger.  Perhaps that’s why it’s so tiny – currently measuring at a diminutive size 3 (sizing available upon request).  Shown from the edge, the curled ribbon motif of this ring can truly be appreciated.  In excellent condition, this estate ring has been on our site for $3,375.00.  Now, we are offering it for the new and unbelievable price of just $2,650.00.  Let’s do the math on that one – it’s a savings of  $725.00!

This ring is our 62nd featured Pick of the Week…  fifteen of them are still available.  To see all the pieces with new and unbelievable pricing, visit the Old Finds section of our website.  Take advantage of the savings today.

Pick of the Week – Volume 61

Joden Girl

Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

There are lots of reasons why someone might sell a piece of jewelry.  Here are some of the most common options:

  • They no longer need or want it.
  • They need the money more than they need the piece.
  • They are settling an estate.
  • Their style has changed and they want something that suits their taste.

For these reasons and so many others, great antique and estate jewelry is always within our reach.  There’s a steady trickle coming through our front door.  Today, in uncertain economic times, that trickle has turned into a veritable flood.  Our inventory is stacked with delectable jewelry.  This influx of estate goods has inspired us to bring back the Pick of the Week on a regular basis.

At least four times a month, we will be revisiting an old favorite item and offering it for a new and unbelievable price.  Don’t miss a single opportunity – subscribe to the blog by clicking here, like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram.

Today’s featured piece is a true gem – an orange zircon to be precise.  This Edwardian stickpin from the early 20th century first appeared on our site and in this blog in June of 2018 (over five years ago).   Made from a classic combination of platinum and yellow gold, this stylish accessory would add the perfect bit of sparkle to a lapel or necktie.

Or, if you prefer, it could be converted to a pendant, charm or a ring in our shop.  A glorious oval orange zircon sits center-stage and exhibits a lovely peach hue.  Three old cut diamonds accentuate the north, east and west points.  This understated beauty has been listed on our site for five years at $990.00.  It’s available now for just $675!

The holidays are just around the corner.  If this stickpin is at the top of your wish-list, don’t hesitate to nab it at this discounted price.  Stay tuned for even more incredible pieces AND pricing.

What’s New – Volume 84

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things

Sometimes you have to trust your gut.  Writing two blogs a week requires continuous searching, treasure-hunting and a keen eye.  Over the years, I have been awe-struck by some of the finest pieces of jewelry to ever cross the threshold of Joden Jewelers.  I have also arbitrarily passed over thousands and thousands of ordinary bits and baubles.  Some pieces from the first category have made it here – to the blog; those in the secondary category never do.

Occasionally, something will give me pause…  and then gets tossed back into the seemingly endless abyss of jewelry.  If I come across the piece again and it makes me pause a second time – then I dig a little deeper.  These earrings are an ideal example.  Complete with a flowing skirt and ballet slippers, a ballerina performs a perfect arabesque pose.

Made from 14-karat yellow gold, these charming earrings have that certain something.  A series of small white pearls highlight the ruffled edge of the matte-finish skirt.  Another slightly larger pearl is held aloft between her hands.  Further accenting the costume are six rubies, four emeralds, six sapphires and four diamonds.  Between the pearls and gemstones is a pierced, lacy border.

On the back of the earrings is the hallmark for Carl D. Lindstrom – a jeweler known for fine gold creations accented with colored stones and diamonds.  I can’t quite put my finger on what it is about these earrings.  Perhaps it’s the swirl of her skirt, the motion of her body, or maybe even the flirtatious tilt of her head – they just have something.  And it’s SO good.  Priced at $1,350.00, they’re available now.
