Joe’s Special Box – Volume 131

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

One of the most sought after pieces that we have at Joden are vintage wedding bands.  The little darlings are in high demand and short supply.  Whether you have a modern halo diamond engagement ring or an Edwardian filigree beauty – either pairs perfectly with the charming details and classic designs of antique bands.

The versatility knows no bounds…  stack them up, wear them individually.  Wedding ring, thumb ring, pinky ring…  you can wear a dainty band on any or every finger.  Our unique collection offers selections in yellow gold, white gold, platinum or two tone.  Some feature diamonds while others offer enchanting engraving.  My favorites are the one that still have messages inscribed inside from the original wearers.

This little number got me from the word go.  Perfectly petite, this ring centers of a series of milgrain-edged diamond settings.  Each tiny square features a single-cut diamond in the center – these five stones offer a hint of sparkle.  Additional details include small pierced openings on each shoulder as well as crisp engraving and a groove etched into the base of the ring, creating great visual texture.

The original metal hallmark remains bold inside the ring, noting that it is made from 10% Iridium Platinum.  Too sweet to beat, this Edwardian band from Joe’s Special Box is priced at $725.00.  Pick up the phone or stop by the store – this antique gem won’t last long.

Two Hearts That Beat As One

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Revolutionary Things

Most brides get engaged with a diamond ring…  84% of U.S. brides, to be exact.  Of the remaining 16%, many choose an alternate stone, like a sapphire.  A very select few will get something other than a ring.  Some of the more unique choices include tattoos, a house, a necklace or even a puppy.  Surrogates are chosen based on personal taste and style, budgets, and lifestyles.  This is not the only time that something other than a ring has been used as an outward symbol of commitment.

Since the Georgian era, a pair of hearts placed side by side have come to represent two souls bound together.  Interlocked, this romantic symbol has been appearing in jewelry since the early 1800’s.  Symbolizing the bond formed between two people, this sentimental design was often utilized in small bethrothal pins.  This enchanting pin/pendant combo is made from 18 karat yellow gold.  About the size of a quarter, the heart-shaped beauty features a complementary medley of blue guilloché enamel with a crisp white border.  The double heart emblem, made from silver, sits center stage.  The silver has a lovely tarnished patina that speaks to the age of the piece.  Small pearls fill each heart and dot the perimeter of the pendant.

No detail has been neglected…  the bail of the piece functions twofold.  Able to be either tucked away when not in use or removed completely, I love the versatility.  Pins were one of the most popular and widely used types of jewelry in the Victorian era.  Now, due to vast changes in lifestyle and wardrobes, brooches have taken a back seat.  This little gem, however, is an ideal size and can be readily incorporated into any style of living.  Pin it to the lapel of your favorite denim jacket for a day of shopping or to a length of velvet ribbon tied around your neck – the perfect accessory for date night!  And if you’re just not a pin person, no worries…  simply slip it onto a chain to enjoy it as a pendant.

Made in the late 1880’s, this Victorian jewel is just as relevant today as it was over a hundred years ago.  Perhaps you’ve been considering an alternative to the modern engagement ring – something to wear on the days when a ring is simply not practical.  In superb condition, this beguiling beauty is available now for just $2,850.00.  Seal your commitment with this authentic Victorian betrothal brooch available exclusively at Joden.

Pick of the Week – Volume 45

Joden Girl

Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

I love the Art Nouveau period…  touted as the celebration of the woman and nature, this period is bursting with botanical beauty and femininity.  With little to no diamonds, these jewels are not blingy or sparkly but rather colorful creations dedicated to beauty and artistry.

As one of the shorter periods, lasting only from 1890-1910, Art Nouveau made a huge impact in a very brief time.  These two decades boasted some of the greatest artisans of all time… René Lalique, Henri Vever and Louis Comfort Tiffany just to name a few.

This 14 karat yellow gold bracelet is a stellar example of the era.  Comprised of nine identical links, this bit of arm candy measures 6.75 inches from end to end.  Each link centers on a rectangular peridot.  These stones are perfectly matched with a lovely soft green hue.  Handmade scrolls envelope the bezel that wraps around each gem.  It has a luxurious feel and drapes across the wrist with ease.

This bracelet has been a featured piece on our website.  We thought we’d shine a light on it by making it a Pick of the Week!  Previously priced at $4,500.00, we are now offering it for just $3,650.00.  Click the links for additional photos and details.
