The Comet and the Moon

 Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Celestial Things

“Tell me,” said the comet as it whooshed past the moon’s pale face

“Who do you look so sulky as you make your way through space?”

“You will sulk as well,” the moon said If you were doomed like me,

To always plod the same path in chains of gravity.

You are free to flair and sizzle, you roam like rockets do,

While I am stuck here in the orbit of the Earth….. I envy you.

Once things were better – spacemen came up to float and walk and scratch my back.

Now life’s too dull “So comet, stay and talk.” The comet didn’t answer.

Already it had gone to wag its tail round Venus while the moon trudged on.

 – Richard Edwards

This brooch by Kieselstein-Cord is a full color representation of the poem by Richard Edwards.  Made entirely of 18 karat yellow gold, the glowing diamond comet whooshes past the moon’s face.  And what a face it is, contemplative and serene.  Or perhaps like the one described by Edwards, is this celestial being sulking?  Is the moon envious of the free-spirited comet?

Created in 1985, the artist applied a bisque finish to the surface of the gold; it softens the overall feel of the piece.  The only shine is provided by the .50 carat of round brilliants pavé set into the surface of the comet.  Kieselstein-Cord is a force to be reckoned with in the world of design and fashion.  His award-winning pieces have earned him the attention of a long line of A-listers.  This otherworldly estate gem is available now on our site for just $1,750.00.
