What’s New – Volume 107

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things

There are some things that you simply cannot admit.  And if you do, you have to brace yourself for the reaction.  For example…

  • I’m not a dog person.  And no, I don’t think dogs need to go everywhere their human goes.
  • I prefer the quiet solace of my sewing room to the company of most people.
  • There is a zero-percent chance that I will watch the Super Bowl.
  • I hate pearls.

After more than twenty-five years in the jewelry industry, I can say for sure that I do not now nor have I ever liked pearls.  I can recognize quality pearls when I see them.  I appreciate the amazing process that creates pearls.  I just don’t find them particularly appealing.  Usually.

This necklace is not your stereotypical strand of pearls.  It is, in fact, thirty-five strands of micro-tiny seed pearls.  Hand strung on silken cord; these delicate gems are quite incredible.  Less than 1 mm in size, each one offers a lustrous, creamy hue.  A singular strand doesn’t look like much.  Five strands isn’t much better… but somehow, thirty-five strands is absolute perfection.

There are approximately 462 pearls on each strand; the total number for the complete necklace is 16,170.  Seed pearls are natural, organic gems that measure less then 2 mm.  Primarily harvested from wild saltwater oysters and the fresh water mussels of the Persian Gulf, India and China, seed pearls became popular during the Georgian and Victorian eras.  With a length of 20-inches, this necklace is modern with a 14-karat yellow gold clasp.

I could not have imagined that I would be completely smitten by a strand of pearls.  And, technically, I’m not.  I have fallen in love with thirty-five strands!  It’s not just about how they look, but also how they feel.  The necklace is light and airy, caressing the skin like fine satin sheets.  It can be left loose, with the individual lengths laying one on top of the other.  Or, it can be gently twisted for an elevated, elegant look.

Priced at $1,850.00, it’s a steal…. just 11.5 cents per pearl.  If you’re like me and pearls have never been your jam, give these a second look.  They’re simply irresistible.

Baubles, Bling, and The Latest Things

Pearls are one of those things for me…  99% of the time, they aren’t my style.  Although I am in awe of how they’re formed, I’m just not a pearl girl.  I own one strand – it’s choker length, comprised of a series of creamy colored very small beads.  I pull it out of my jewelry box once or twice a year, most often to layer it with another necklace.  However, every once in a very long while a particular strand will attract my attention.

This double strand is the epitome of elegance.  Laying at the base of the throat, these perfectly matched orbs offer luminous shades of ivory, cream and soft pink.  Measuring between two and three millimeters each, these lustrous beads are strung on silk cord.  There are five 18 karat white gold bars that provide structure to the necklace.

The clasp is the true star of this show.  Made from 18 karat white gold, it’s the perfect decoration for this traditional design.  Bezel set in the center is one small oval sapphire.  This cabochon beauty is set east/west and weighs approximately .50 carat.  Surrounding this sapphire in halo style and accenting the remainder of the piece are twenty-six round brilliant diamonds that have a combined weight of .50 carat.

Perfect for a new bride, a high school or college graduate, or perhaps a milestone birthday – this necklace is on our website for $2,250.00.  Where do you stand – are you a pearl lover?  And if you are, what occasion would you wear these gems for?

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 94

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

For those of you who loved the luxurious pearl scarf from a few weeks ago, but didn’t want to splurge on it…  this week is for you!

This little darling is an open-ended strand of 4.5mm pearls.  Each side finishes with a sterling silver tipped tassel…  three larger pearls graduating in size from 6.5-9.5mm are nestled inside of filigree caps.  Delicate 18 karat yellow gold accents add a touch of warmth and color.

This piece is so versatile!  Tie it around your neck with the tassels hanging down the front OR the back if you’re feeling trendy.  The knot can be tight against the throat like a choker or down lower for a more casual feel.  My absolute favorite way to sport this scarf is not as a necklace, but rather wrapped around the wrist like a bracelet!

Those tassels dangling down onto the hand is everything!  Typically, I don’t wear bracelet because my wrist is small, I find them to be cumbersome.  With this, I am able to adjust the fit and it works perfectly.  For a more formal occasion, this strand can be woven through the hair or wrapped around a bun.  Priced right at just $475 – make it yours today.
