Joe’s Special Box – Volume 68

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Joe’s Special Box is a virtual treasure trove of super sweet vintage jewels.  What was once a small square box has now become three overflowing bins…  one of which is nothing but rings.  Dainty Edwardian charmers, Art Deco gems and a few Victorian beauties like this one.

Made in England in 1887, this 15 karat yellow gold enchantress is absolutely perfect.  Set in a diagonal swirl across the center are an alternating series of three natural pearls and a two bright red rubies.  Engraved scrolls fan out from the center section adding another layer of dimension.  A series of hallmarks are deeply etched into the inside shank of the piece, ensuring the karatage as well as the age of this 19th century prize.  The gold is silky smooth and glides over the knuckle to sit comfortably on any hand.  I love it on an index or middle finger.  The condition is mint – a pleasant surprise for a 132 year old ring.  Add it to your collection now for now for just $680.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 39

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

This week, I am revisiting an old favorite…  this dainty pendant from the turn of the century.  You can call it late Edwardian or you can call it early Art Deco, I simply call it beautiful.  I shared it with you several months ago, and to be quite honest, I am amazed that we still have it.  Now…  that could be because it’s tucked away in Joe’s Special Box!  I am certain that if it were in our showcase, some lucky girl would have snatched it up long ago!

Handcrafted entirely of platinum, this fine piece features classic filigree design.  Two hearts, created by delicate wirework combine with natural pearls, diamonds and a bright green emerald in perfect harmony.  Made in five separate segments from the bail to the pearl tip, each portion is jointed, allowing the pendant to move gracefully with the body.  Simple elegance makes this pendant an ideal statement piece, able to be worn every day.  Make it yours for just $1600.00.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 29

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

This piece is a home run for me in more ways than one.   A lovely little Art Nouveau gem – meticulously carved from high karat yellow gold.  The intricate basket-weave pattern features soft swirls mixed with textured lines.  Cobalt blue enameling provides a bright pop of color.  Five natural pearls are nestled into the open spaces.  Made around the turn of the 20th century, this pendant could easily become a signature piece in any wardrobe.  The back features a removable glass lid – it covers a compartment that could be used for a photograph, a lock of hair, or both. I love this simple, yet terribly sentimental detail.  It brings to mind the old saying…

“Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.”

Wouldn’t this be a perfect gift for a new bride on her wedding day?  I think so!  Personally, I’d be happy to receive it for any reason…  or for no reason at all.  This piece (tucked away in Joe’s Special Box) is available now for $1,280.00.
