What’s New – Volume 82

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things

We are absolutely thrilled to have taken on a new vocation recently…  we’re bee keepers!  Over the years, we have been caretakers of lots of bee pins.  From diamond encrusted to sapphire studded, these charming bees are always a favorite.  There is one particular bee that has eluded us…  the Herbert Rosenthal bee.

Herbert Rosenthal is the celebrated Mid Century Modern designer who elevated bee pins to stardom.  His realistic insects are the epitome of chic.  We have had two Rosenthal butterflies – both lovely in their own rite, but we wanted a bee!  At long last, the wait is over – this little stinger just buzzed into our showroom at 144 South Broad Street.  Complete with an artfully engraved body, sculpted wings and ruby eyes – he is simple perfection.

The warm, rich tones of 18-karat yellow gold bring our tiny friend to life.  Add him to your collar, your shoulder, or your cuff for a touch of whimsy.  Equally suited to a masculine or feminine look – this bee is the ultimate accessory.

Peep the signature Herbert Rosenthal mark on the backside of the wing!  It’s the most important detail of all.  If you too are buzzing with excitement, hop on over to our site and add classic style to your wardrobe for just $1200.

Too Suite – Volume Four

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Matching Things

There’s so much to love about this week’s featured suite…  this tiny trio defines triple threat.  Made entirely of 14-karat white gold, this threesome hails from my current favorite time period – the Mid Century Modern era.  Even Barbie herself (perhaps the most notable fashion icon of the 1960’s) was known to sport the hottest trends from the tip of her white sunglasses to the heel of her peep-toe black pumps.  Throughout the decade, Barbie showcased classic pieces like pearl stud earrings, a crystal beaded necklace, gold hoops and even a lapel pin.

The largest piece of our suite is just that…  a dainty lapel pin.  Taking the shape of a nine-petaled flower, this small brooch measures just one inch at the widest point.  The petals are clustered in groups of three and feature prominent vein patterns.  On the back of the brooch is a small oval marked “Scallé”.  This hallmark was first used in 1961.  The company applied for a trademark with this description…  “jewelry for personal wear made of precious metals including pins, brooches, earrings, rings, necklaces, pendants and the like”.  This relatively unknown firm continued to make fine accessories until 2003. The same flower that forms the brooch was replicated in three smaller versions to make a pair of earrings and a bypass ring.

Each of the four flowers holds a tiny round diamond in the center – the combined weight of all four stones is .12 carat.  This matching suite can be worn together for a cohesive look, or each piece can be worn individually for  casual appeal.

We’ve priced it as a set – just $900 for the brooch, earrings and ring!  That’s three unique bits of 14-karat gold jewelry featuring genuine diamonds for less than a thousand dollars.  Even if you aren’t a pin person, don’t let that stop you from nabbing this sweet suite.  In the hands of our experts, the brooch could be easily converted to a pendant or necklace.  The possibilities are only as limited as your imagination.  Stop by our showroom or give us a call to make this Mid Century trilogy yours today.

What’s One More?

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and a Perfect Ring

I am going to be brutally honest.  Sometimes the pieces of jewelry run together, one after the other.  It’s a seemingly endless array of platinum diamond rings, gold chains, colored stone earrings…  the list goes on.  Our inventory is vast, boasting thousands of items from the simple to the sublime.  After twenty years of jewelry, it takes something special to catch my eye.  On more than one occasion, I have commented that I just cannot write about another platinum diamond ring.

Without a doubt, those very things…  sweet little vintage diamond rings get more comments than anything else we post on Facebook or Instagram.  Our followers are gaga for a platinum setting glittering from top to bottom with diamonds.  You love them all…  from Edwardian to Art Deco and even Mid Century Modern.  So, when this dainty darling found it’s way to my desk, I couldn’t resist.  After all, what’s one more?

Made during the 1950’s, this beauty focuses on a modern cut round diamond that weighs approximately .60 carat.  This stone is near colorless (G, to be precise) with a clarity grade of VS.  It’s set with angular L-shaped prongs in the corners that give the stone a squarish appearance.  Keeping the geometric theme, three straight baguette cut diamonds are channel set on each side of the center.  These six diamonds have a combined weight of .18 carat.  Eighteen round diamonds create upper and lower borders on this Mid Century ring, adding another .18 carat of bling.  Made entirely of platinum, this ring is priced at $2,980.00 and is available now on joden.com…  just in time for the holidays!
