This or That – Volume 19

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Birthstone Things

Undeniably, one of the most universally requested pieces of jewelry is a cross.  A badge of the Christian faith, the cross symbolizes sacrifice, redemption and hope.  This simple shape, two bars intersecting at right angles to create four arms, is recognized all over the world.  More than that, it is respected and revered by billions of believers. It does not discriminate – men, women, and children of all ages wear a cross pendant both as an outward show of faith and as a talisman of protection.

There are endless varieties of crosses – truly something for everyone.  We have a broad selection… silver, gold, diamonds, gemstones.  We have crosses that fit on the end of my finger and crosses that fill my entire hand.  Accompanying all of these choices is a price range that is just as expansive.  If someone on your Christmas list has asked for a cross, then Joden is the place for you.

This 14-karat yellow gold beauty measures more than two inches tall and over an inch across.  Filling out the shape are six well-matched citrine gemstones.  Although the length of each stone varies, they are all emerald cut.  Sturdy and strong, the framework of this cross mimics the shape of each stone it holds.  Viewed from the back, it looks very much like a stained-glass window.  The craftsmanship is superb, so much so that this piece could even be worn backwards.

Gliding on an 18-inch box chain, this beauty is available for $1,950.00.  For those interested in a bolder look, this cross could easily be paired with a more stout chain.  If it’s too bold for your taste, perhaps you would prefer this smaller, more delicate version.  It, too, is made from 14-karat yellow gold and is accompanied by an 18-inch chain.

The gently curved arms of this cross are made from four pear-shaped pieces of citrine.  Golden honey in color, the shimmer of light that plays across the surface of each gemstone is incredible.  At about half the size of the other, this more petite cross doesn’t have a bail.  Instead, the cable chain slides smoothly through the top of the mounting.  Priced at just $1,180.00, this cross is available as well.

When selecting these pieces for the blog, I debated whether this would be a “His and Hers” or would it be a “This or That” edition.  Obviously, I opted for the latter – although, there is no doubt that these two necklaces would also be amazing for any couple.  Now, for the big question.  Which one is perfect for you… this bold, geometric design or that shapely sensation?  This or that?
