Baubles, Bling and Quality Things

The incomparable beauty of nature has inspired artists in all walks of life for thousands of years.  From the moon and stars above, every animal that walks the earth, to everything in between… each feather, leaf, cloud and petal has influenced a creator to create.  Vincent Van Gogh painted “The Starry Night” while observing the sky from the window of his room in the psychiatric clinic.  John Denver’s iconic “Country Roads, Take Me Home” was penned by a pair of songwriters driving down Clopper Road in Maryland on their way to a family reunion.  Jack London wrote “The Call of the Wild”, a classic work that described the life of a dog living in Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush.  These few are among the millions, perhaps billions of other examples of art brought to life by the power and beauty of the natural universe.

Jewelers, artisans in their own rite, have also been motivated to dream up and design some of the most beautiful works of wearable art this world has ever seen.  The Art Nouveau era had René Lalique making extraordinary confections of gold, multi-colored enamel and diamonds.  Today, and for the last 188 years, we have had Tiffany & Co.  In the early 1980’s, this legendary giant made an entire collection devoted to the exemplary flowers of North America called The American Perennials.  Included in the selection were the dogwood, the wild rose, the azalea, the marguerite, and the alpine rose.

A recent acquisition,  these alpine rose earrings are truly a work to behold.  Made entirely of 18-karat yellow gold, each blossom features five fluted petals with a matte, sand-blasted finish.  This subtle texture softens the appearance, amping up the feminine feel.  Six round brilliant diamonds form the center of each earring – combined they offer .75 carat of scintillating sparkle.  Near colorless, these diamonds have an average clarity grade of VVS2-VS1.  Made in 1991, these stunners measure over 25mm each.  Clever omega-style backs keep the blossom snug to the earlobe for maximum effect.

Vintage Tiffany pieces are highly sought after and often command prices higher than when they were originally produced.  In today’s climate, with gold soaring higher by the day, we are pleased to offer these beauties for just $3,850.00.  Not yet on our website, call us to claim these lush and luxurious baubles for yourself.
