Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

For the first time in a very long time, it seems like brooches are making a comeback.  The resurgence is due in part to Hollywood celebrities and professional athletes adorning their formal attire with stunning vintage pins.  They are the go-to accessory for every well-dressed man.  Whether these magnificent jewels are affixed to a lapel or the collar – they steal the show.  It doesn’t matter if you’re going to the Oscars or the Super Bowl – amping up your look with vintage bling never goes out of style.

Dapper gentlemen have been sporting brooches for centuries – every stylish Victorian chap had a gold pocket-watch (complete with a chain and fob) as well as a fashionable stick pin holding his cravat in place.  Formal occasions might have encouraged a more elaborate ensemble; perhaps a gold buckle, a gemstone ring, and/or cuff links and shirt studs.  Every horse race, ball and theater performance saw the gentlemen every bit as well turned out as the ladies.

I can only imagine the events that this handsome Art Nouveau sword brooch attended.  Measuring just over three and a half inches from the pommel to the point, this yellow gold beauty is a miniature masterpiece.  The handle and flange have been decorated with turquoise-blue enamel while the loop guard features a swirl of twelve seed pearls.  The blade looks very authentic with a raised center on both sides.

A small chain dangles from the grip and attaches to a tiny dragon cap.  Small but mighty, this fiery fellow is my favorite detail of the piece.  Equipped with wings but no legs, he looks like an amphiptere with his long, snakelike body and powerful tail.  These mythical creatures were fierce guardians, protecting treasures and sacred places.

The most wonderful patina has developed on the wings of the dragon… looking iridescent, the patina showcases shades of purple, red and blue.  The blade itself has a few nicks and bends, as though it has been used in battle.  Though the rest of the piece is 18-karat, the blade is 14-karat.  Sure to add visual appeal and attract the eye of jewelry connoisseurs everywhere, this jabot pin was previously priced at $1800, and is now available for just $1500.00.  Perfect for Father’s Day, fly over to our site to make him yours.
