Joden Girl
Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things
No longer considered “old-fashioned”, brooches are very much on trend in 2026. Appearing on the red carpet, runways, and even incorporated into street style, brooches are the most versatile piece of jewelry. They know no gender, age or ethnicity. Able to be pinned to everything from hats to handbags, brooches are for everyone.
Costume and fine jewelry varieties can be found in high-end department stores, second-hand boutiques and probably even your own jewelry box. Just yesterday, I wore a denim jacket over a simple cotton dress. The look needed something, so I dug around in the bottom of my jewelry box grabbing eight different brooches and a pair of earrings. I clustered them on the left side of the jacket in a whimsical fashion. The look was fun and flirty.

I combined antique with modern, costume with genuine, silver with gold and gemstones with pearls. Today’s featured piece would have paired nicely with my personal collection. Large enough to be worn alone, yet definitely able to be combined with another; this filigree pin is made from 14-karat white gold. Rectangular in shape, this 1920’s beauty showcases intricate wire work with feminine details. A triple-looped bow resides in the top left corner while a small floral element accents the opposite junction. Two small diamonds add a hint of sparkle with a combined weight of just .08 carat. A pair of synthetic blue sapphires form the leaves of the flower.

Small in size but big on style, this brooch is priced at just $800.00. This antique beauty would look great on the lapel of a suit, or centered on a dark-hued tie. Pin it to the band of your favorite fedora, or an upturned cuff. It takes the place of a knot in a scarf or the button on a cardigan. Grandma knew what she was talking about – and she did it with style, grace and a fantastic brooch or two.
