Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Gold… it’s the color of sunshine.  It warms to the touch and feels good when you put it on.  It’s a timeless classic and the picture of modernity at the same time.  Everyone is amping up their wardrobe game with a piece or two of golden elegance.  Earrings are a natural go-to for gifting.  They’re also perfect when you’re looking for a little pick-me-up for yourself.  Framing the face, and adding a little shine to your look is something that everyone can embrace.

Everyone has a pair of gold hoops.  Maybe you picked them up on your latest weekend away or maybe you snagged a fun pair on a last-minute Target run.  They’re an easy, every day look.  But sometimes, you want something that feels a little different; a style that is still simple, but offers a bit more visual appeal.  Recently acquired, these vintage post earrings are so fun.  A half-circle bead sits flush with the ear while a small sculpted gold piece dangles just below.  Looking very much like a fresh-baked croissant or bakery roll, these dangles have a story to tell.

The back of the earring is covered with hallmarks… 14K, Italy, Uno A Erre, Aurea.  The first two marks are self-explanatory; they tell us that the earrings were made in Italy of 14-karat yellow gold.  A quick Google search revealed that Aurea means golden.  That just leaves one more hallmark.  For more than ninety years, Unoaerre has been crafting some of Italy’s finest gold jewelry.  Interestingly, the name Unoaerre comes from the very first hallmark of the gold industry.  It was issued to Zucchi and Gori (the founding fathers of Unoaerre) in 1926; the mark was “1AR” – which evolved into the name of the company…  Uno A Erre or Unoaerre.  Today, the company is recognized throughout the world – distributing fine jewelry in forty different countries!

These earrings are the latest addition to our estate department.  They’re sure to add a hint of color and a bit of fun to your day.  Priced at just $350.00 – they won’t last long.
