Joe’s Special Box Luxury – Volume 29

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and A Collector’s Things

Have you ever heard of a festoon necklace?  Made popular in the Neoclassical Period, this elaborate style showcased multiple drapes of gold chain and other elements that hang like a wreath or garland around the neck.  The name comes from the Latin word “festo” – when used as an adjective, it means festive, joyful or merry.  When you see one of these unique necklaces, you will immediately understand the name.  They do, indeed, feel festive!

This elegantly embellished enchantress from the 1870’s features not just one or two swags, but an impressive twenty golden drapes that connect from one link to the next.  Created in graduated lengths, these loops are nested together in groups of three; eight of them are accented with a singular pearl.  Further enhancing the look are individual pieces of chain that dangle both beside and between… there are thirty-seven of these tiny tassels, each one capped with a small creamy pearl.  When clasped around the throat, it moves with mesmerizing appeal.

Holding all of this is a bracelet-like linked top.  Made in nine separate sections, each one is comprised of twisted rope wires and polished golden beads.  Looking very much like filigree, the links also feature beaded milgrain edges.  Eleven primitively cut emeralds are nestled into pinched collet settings.  These natural gemstones provide the perfect pop of color to this celebratory necklace.

A tiny oval clasp finishes the piece.  Looking very much like it belongs on the set of Bridgerton, this ornamental confection is not for just anyone.  No Penelope Featherington wallflowers allowed – this piece is destined for someone more akin to Queen Charlotte and her outrageous apparel.  If you have fallen for this bit of festoon finery, you’re in luck!  It’s available now for just $6,750.00.

Pick of the Week – Volume 79

Joden Girl

Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

This week, we’re dropping the price on a classically styled beauty with a touch of whimsy that takes it to another level.   Although an exact date is not known, one of the most iconic engagement ring designs of all time emerged in the 1940’s.  Simple and elegant, this timeless style presents with one tapered baguette diamond on each side of the center stone.  Today, nearly a century later, customers still request this enduring look.

Cartier introduced the baguette cut in 1912.  This elongated shape quickly became a quintessential element of Art Deco design.  With sharp corners and long lines, baguettes blended well into the geometric composition that reigned during the 1920’s and 1930’s.  Because they were such a departure from round diamonds, baguette diamonds were viewed as very modern and cutting edge – an idea that appealed to consumers who saw themselves as trendsetters.

Today, we’re showcasing a modern twist on the three-stone style.  By adding a halo to the center stone, the ring instantly becomes a little more…  More feminine, more sparkly, just more.  The center stone in this ring is a 1.01 carat round brilliant diamond.  It’s surrounded by an additional fourteen round diamonds that amp up the bling by .21 carat.

The two tapered-baguette diamonds that form the shoulders of the ring have a combined weight of .34 carat.  Perhaps my favorite detail of this unique pick is the small round diamond at the southern-most tip of each baguette.  It’s the final flourish of this 18-karat white gold stunner.

Perhaps you, too, are a little extra.  Your style, your personality, your life is a bit bigger.  If you dig a skosh of drama, then this ring is for you.  There’s only one thing about this diamond dazzler that isn’t more… and that’s the price.  In fact, today, the price is LESS.  A lot less.  Previously priced at $6,400.00, this modern gem is available now for just $4,050.00!  Hop on over to joden.com and make it yours now.

Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Patriotic Things

As I’m sitting here, struggling to find the right words, the only thing I can think of are song lyrics.  John Mellencamp’s raspy voice is crooning in my ear…

“Well, I was born in a small town.  And I live in a small town.  Probably die in a small town.  Oh, those small communities…”

Grove City is an idyllic small town.  Everyone knows everyone.  The church bells still chime to mark the hours of the day.  Our kids stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance to start the school day.  And Friday night home football games are still the best and only thing going on.  Just before our Eagles take the field, the crowd rises to their feet and turns to face the flag.  As the high school band plays the first notes of The Star Spangled Banner, my heart flutters in my chest.

As the song builds, so do my emotions.  And here’s the part that really resonates…

“And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air.  Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.  Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

At a glance, it’s fabric and thread… but woven into those fibers is so much more.  It’s everything, really, those stars and stripes.  Fifty stars to represent the fifty states, thirteen stripes that represent the original thirteen colonies that declared independence from Great Britain – it’s the most potent symbol of freedom.  That freedom was, is, and always will be protected by the men and women of the United States Armed Forces.  On Memorial Day, we honor those who willingly made the ultimate sacrifice.

This sweet little ring from the late 1800’s is reminiscent of our flag…  red for valor, white for purity and blue for vigilance and justice.  The red and blue stones are synthetic, but authentic and original to the ring.  The white center is a genuine moonstone; also original to the ring.  Nestled into a 10-karat rosy gold band, these gemstones shine with patriotic pride for just $475.00.

No one has ever said it better than Lee Greenwood…

“And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free.  And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.  And I’ll gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today.  Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land.  God bless the USA.”
