Joe’s Special Box Luxury Edition – Volume Two

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and  A Collector’s Things

With an appraised value of $141,785.00, you might be thinking we’re talking about a house.  Or perhaps a car…  but not a ring, right?  Wrong.  At least when it’s a showstopper like this!

The center diamond is an absolutely dazzling round brilliant beauty weighing exactly 8.10 carats.  Just take that in for a moment.  That’s not a combined weight of several small stones, but rather one singular stone.  8.10 carats.  Wow!  This is a ring that will make you take more than a second glance – in fact, you just can’t stop staring.

Nothing screams luxury quite like diamonds and platinum.  There are twelve round brilliant diamonds “bead and bright” set into the shoulders of the ring.  This is considered to be one of the oldest forms utilized in the setting of  round melee.  The platinum around each stone is carefully carved using a sharp graver in an expert hand.  The metal is chiseled into beads (a.k.a. prongs) that hold the small diamonds in place.  Next these beads are shaped using a hand-held tool that forms each one into a perfectly shaped half round ball.  Finally, the craftsman goes back to his graver to create the cuts that form the wall or channel portion of the style.  This time-honored technique was a favorite of jewelers in the Edwardian and Art Deco eras.  It’s often employed today to bring a vintage feel to a modern design.

Six additional round brilliant diamonds are bezel set around the edge of the head that holds the center diamond.  The eighteen side stones have a combined weight of .50 carat, bringing the total diamond weight of the ring to 8.60 carats!

As unusual as this ring is, it’s not unusual for us to have a piece like this in our every day inventory.  In fact, we specialize in diamonds that weigh over two carats each…  we stock them in real quantities; not merely one or two.  At Joden, we know that when you make a once in a lifetime purchase, you want to buy it from an expert.  You want the reassurance of knowing your personal jeweler is confident and comfortable with gems of all sizes.  Let’s be honest, you wouldn’t go to a Chevy dealer to buy a Bentley, would you?

As I mentioned earlier, this ring has an outside laboratory certificate valuing it at $141,785.00.  For those of you dying to know the selling price – it’s available upon request.  Serious inquiries only.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 120

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Just a few weeks ago, I shared a rare French bracelet from Joe’s Special Box.  Featuring special details like fine coiled wire and dainty platinum segments set with small rose cut diamonds, I hardly expected to find a companion to it quite so soon.

French jewelry is known for high style and superior craftsmanship.  For this reason, dealers and independent jewelers alike seek it out and often pay premium prices for these outstanding jewels.  After all, there’s no substitute for fine quality.

This week, in the bottom of a drawer positively overflowing with gold link bracelets – I found this little sweetheart.  The first thing to catch my eye were those twisted gold wire links.  With a double looped design, the pattern repeats ten times over.  These curvy golden beauties are connected with tiny bypass style links.  The overall appeal rests not only in what’s there, but also in what isn’t there…  those large openings that allow a peep of skin to show through are everything!

Close inspection revealed the cool platinum segments waving across the center of each swirl.  Seven rose cut diamonds that graduate in size are bead-set in every one.  This was the exact detail that reminded me of the bracelet from Joe’s Special Box.

While not identical – there’s no denying the similarity.  With such a strong resemblance, it led me to wonder if this new find was also French?  Sure enough, further investigation revealed the telltale sign, an eagle hallmark on the clasp.  Our inventory boasts not one but two antique French bracelets with diamond trim.

With such similar styles, it comes as no surprise that these two beauties are both priced at $3,250.00.  Both pieces are available now from the Joe’s Special Box collection.  Call for additional details.

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Throwback Things

At Joden, we have a lot of jewelry… like staggering, phenomenally large, and sometimes overwhelming quantities of baubles and bling.  While that is certainly a bonus, it comes with a drawback or two.  With thousands of pieces in our inventory, it’s easy to become immune to the individual beauty of each gem and jewel.  Add in nearly twenty years of personal experience in the jewelry field – and you can begin to imagine just how much jewelry I have seen.

Guests at Joden are always mentioning how hard it must be for us to work with so much fabulous and oh-so-tempting jewelry.  Do they often wonder if we ever manage to take home a paycheck?!?!  The answer to that question is yes, of course…  although they might be slightly diminished due to a particularly alluring piece!  ♥

With such bounty at our fingertips, Dana and I are constantly on the lookout for the next hot item to share with all of you.  Some jewels are ideal for a quick Instagram post while others are more suited to the blog, like this beauty.  The first time I saw it, I pulled it out of the bag.  After slowly turning it over in my hand, I slid off my own ring stack to slip this on.  I was enamored.

Made in the 1940’s, this ring speaks with quiet elegance.  Like most things from the Retro period, it features a two-tone style.  14 karat yellow gold with just a whisper of a rosy glow is perfectly complemented by cool platinum trim.  The center stone, a .65 carat European cut diamond shimmers within a classic square setting.  It’s a real gem…  H in color and SI2 in clarity.  Four single-cut diamonds are nestled into the shoulders, two on each side of the center.  Adding a bit of subtle charm are four delicately engraved leaves.  This is not a ring that knocks you over the head but rather sings softly to your heart.  It’s timeless.

If you’re looking for an engagement ring that has stood the test of time, look no more.  Originally priced at $3,320 – this ring has just been price reduced to $2,380!  Call us for additional details on this steal of a deal!
