This ring is the epitome of everything that Joe’s Special Box was meant to be. It’s delicate, pretty and oh-so-sweet. Hand-crafted from platinum in the early 1900’s (circa 1915) – this ring crosses over two periods making it both late Edwardian AND early Art Deco.

A lightly milgrained bezel surrounds a .41 carat round diamond – creating the perfect center. The diamond itself is bright white and very clean, a dazzling beauty. It winks coquettishly from within hand-pierced filigree patterns. A pair of double ended swirls flank the center and are further enhanced by an intricate series of triangular shapes. Every line is meticulously edged with tiny beads with the space between accented with glistening diamonds.

The shank of the ring is decorated with leaf-like engraving. The entire ring is domed, it slides over the knuckle with ease and settles comfortably at the base of the finger. I can see this ring on a right hand, or as a non-traditional engagement ring. Priced at just $1,850… there’s no doubt. This one’s a steal!

Sliding in on the last day of the month with some birthstone bling… circa 1860. Imagine looking this fantastic when you’re over one hundred years old! These beauties are made up of sixty Pyrope Garnets; deep fiery red stones that have been mined in Bohemia since the Middle Ages.

Now known as Czechoslovakia (formerly Bohemia), this region began cutting the stones and crafting jewelry with great frequency in the 16th century. These rich warm stones were most often clustered together in a pavé style, with almost no metal to be seen. Silver, gold-filled, and low karat gold were popular choices for these pieces as it kept the cost down, making these sparkling jewels affordable for a broad audience. By the mid to late 1800’s, the Bohemian style had become all the rage. Everyone was wearing this signature look.

Our earrings are wonderfully large, measuring over one inch both in length and width. Each centers on a cabochon oval garnet that is surrounded by twenty-nine additional rose cut garnets set in a double halo style. The clusters are suspended from a pair of golden wires (they have been replaced to maintain integrity and wear-ability) allowing the top of the gemstones to skim the bottom of the earlobe. Because there are no diamonds, these earrings can be dressed up or worn casually. They are in very good antique condition and are available for just $1,350.00.

Imagine my excitement when I discovered that January 28th is a celebration of my favorite flower – it’s Daisy Day! The name daisy means “day’s eye” and refers to the fact that this simple blossom closes its petals and night and blooms during the day. In Victorian times, these yellow and white beauties were known to represent loyalty and trust.

Over the years we have had many bits and baubles that incorporated daisies into their design, but this late Victorian/early Art Nouveau pendant is truly something special. A 22 karat gold frame encapsulates a stunning micro mosaic bouquet. A bold blue background provides the ideal setting for the stark white petals and golden yellow centers of this floral trio. The craftsmanship is exquisite, it’s priced at $4,500.

This irresistible brooch captured my heart as well. Bursting with botanical beauty, this Essex crystal is an explosion of joy. Sometimes called a reverse intaglio painting, these unique pieces are hand-crafted by carving an image into the back of a rock crystal. The image is then painted, creating a three-dimensional illusion. This wildflower bouquet (tied with a blue bow) has a bit of everything, including one little daisy. Make it yours for just $1,750.
