All Tied Up

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and Edwardian Things

This charming turn-of-the-century necklace has us all tied up in knots.  From the crest of each bow loop to the tip of those bezel set diamond dangles – it is absolutely enchanting.  A soft yellow gold has been topped with a layer of platinum, aged to perfection.  A glorious patina (heavier in the nooks and crannies) coats the surface and highlights each diamond detail.  These are clues, revealing the age…  early Edwardian, made around 1900.  Here are some photos from behind, showcasing the classic two tone style.

If only we could all look this good at nearly 120 years old!  The pendant itself measures less than two inches in length and hangs from a 17 inch split chain.  Each half of the delicate chain attaches to the loops of the most adorable little bow.  Made from fine filigree, it features a series of sixteen rose cut diamonds that are hand set into the scalloped edges and pointed tips of the tails.  One fully faceted diamond creates the knot in the center of the bow.  It is set within a tiny milgrain-edged bezel and completes the bow to perfection.

The final and perhaps most engaging element of this Edwardian pendant are the two drops…  one slightly longer than the other.  The narrowest of wires connects to the base of the bow with a nearly invisible hinge.  These drops get wider as they get longer and each one is set with three individual diamonds…  the largest of the stones finishing the dangle.  So much detail is encompassed within this relatively small piece!  A piece of jewelry like this, in pristine condition, commands a big price.  This beauty is available now for $1,480.00.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 70

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Occasionally, I find a piece in Joe’s Special Box that makes me go “Hmmm?”  This ring definitely made me stop and take a second look, and then a third.  Finally, I took it out of the little plastic bag it was floating around in to give it more than just a cursory glance.

I slid it onto the middle finger of my left hand… I was surprised at how easily is nestled into that spot and how much I liked the look of it.  The band is wide – really wide (15 mm), reaching nearly knuckle to knuckle.  The expanse of the ring is covered in a rich olive green enamel with an 18 karat yellow gold border on each side.  Featured on the top center are a series of three round symbols, each one filled with opalescent enamel and round brilliant diamond accents.  A linear tag inside names the designer, Nouvelle Bague.

Founded in 1976 by Leopoldo Poli, their designs are deeply rooted in the traditions and craftsmanship of Florence.  Bold patterns showcasing creative color combinations are the heart and soul of the brand.  The hand enameled jewels carry an air of uniqueness that makes them instantly special to the wearer.

A bit of research revealed that this particular band retailed for $4,250.  Although our ring has never been worn (pristine condition!), it is still considered estate.  We are offering this beauty for just $1,950 – a huge savings!  If you’re craving a high end piece of signed jewelry, this one is for you.

I Want Candy

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and a Super Sweet Ring

If ever there were a perfect mother’s ring for me – this is it!  My boys were born in April and May, making their birthstones diamond and emerald, respectively.  I have never wanted a family ring (at least not in the old-fashioned sense) and I am not usually a fan of emeralds.  BUT seriously!  This is a showstopping, eye-popping beauty.  It practically jumps off the finger.

The classic two-stone twin bypass design is done to perfection with a pair of marquise brilliant cut stones.  First, we have a gem fine bright green emerald (probably Columbian).  This is a natural stone – no lab-grown emeralds for us!   This color can only be described as emerald green – and the clarity!  Not a spot to be seen!  This quality is rare, and quite hard to find.  Not to be outdone, check out that diamond.  It weighs in at 1.09 carats.  The high white tone is the ideal complement to the glowing green of the emerald.  What a combination!  Ten baguette cut diamonds arch up each side of the band, creating an elegant swirl of sparkle.

Made entirely of platinum, this bauble brings the bling.  It’s from our estate collection – pre-owned, but not antique.  Most likely made in the late 1960’s or early 1970’s, this is one cocktail ring you don’t want to miss.  Fancy shaped diamonds are making quite a splash this year, but there’s no doubt the marquise is reigning supreme.  Add this one to your wardrobe today…  it’s priced to sell at $17,500.  Call me for additional details.  Dial 800.747.7552 and ask for Joden Girl.  ♥
